Roman Arthur Hollis
It was a Thursday morning. A warm piece of heavenly light fell from the clouds that were just breaking up overhead and landed on a spot on the ground. Since the clouds were still breaking up, the the spot of light wasn't completely steady. The puddle of sunshine danced all over the sand, throwing bright patches all over the cream colored grains. As the light fooled around a soft, light wind blew out of the south, playing with the light from the early morning sun. The two danced around with each other, the sunlight peeking out behind the dunes and the wind almost seeming to chase it through the sand. As the wind flitted through the atmosphere, child's laughter mixed with the sound of the wind, creating a calming, yet playful effect. Roman Hollis took all of this in as he sat on his blanket, strumming his old guitar idly. The boy finally tore his dark gaze away from the playground of the elements. He fondled the six string in his lap, the strumming still going. It was like the strumming was keeping the the wind and the light going. For a moment, Rome stopped playing and an eerie calmness fell over the beach. The silence was sharp and almost frightening compared to how it had been just seconds ago. He found the eerie silence oddly endearing to his darkened heart. The silence had wrapped its way around Rome's head and enveloped him in a cloak of quietness. Roman snapped out of it and drew his hand down the steel strings of the guitar. The music flowed through the clearing and into the air, the wind resuming its playful behavior again.

regan ashley barker Regan had been sitting on the beach listening to some random music being played from somewhere random, enjoying her Valentines Day alone, which wasn't unnormal. Regan was never the girl to care about her relationship status. She was living in the moment, and she wouldn't become clincally depressed by having to spend a random day in February alone. It would be nice to have a guy that loved her, but she was almost sure that most guys would just drag her down. Here, on the beach, she was attending her own toned down concert, and she was allowing herself to relax. It was enough. Almost randomly, though, the guitar shut up, and Regan turned around abruptly. She hadn't realized the boy playing was so far away, and as she stuck her feet in the water one final time, Regan stood up and slowly made her way towards where she remembered the sound being. She eventually stumbled upon him, and a smile, shy blush spread across her cheeks. He was cute, and she hadn't been expecting him to be cute. "Hey, so you're all alone, too? And that guitar was you?" Regan smiled and stepped closer, more hesistant than she would usually be because the boy was strikingly handsome. "I'm Regan."
