Subject: Time to make a snowman! -RedPhoenix- Thu Jan 03, 2013 3:18 pm
Winter. Winter meant cold. Cold meant snow. Snow meant all sorts of fun things. Forts and snowball fights. But for now, Ama was entertaining herself by taking a ball of snow and making it bigger and bigger. She had a large bag of goodies to use on her snow-hero. Carrots and coal and buttons and cloths. Pulling her coat closer around her person, and adjusting her gloves, she grinned at the now rolled body. Time to mold it! Because anyone could make a snowman of round body pieces. No no, she was going to make something spectacular! Her goat hooves left tracks in the snow as she wandered around, gathering hunks of clean snow for her creation.

CORINNE “CORIN” ROWAN daughter of hepheastus tagged: vix ; word count : three fourty-one ; note: finally! <3
Why couldn't a girl get at least a single peaceful day at Camp? It seemed like it was a completely impossible feat. Everywhere, there seemed to be at least some sort of hustle and bustle that irked Rin’s patience as she shuffled through the snow-covered ground of Camp Half-Blood. She had no idea where to go now really. Apollo children had snagged all of the targets; the forge was full of, not only her half-siblings, but other campers who were seeking refuge from he cold air outside. But still, campers, nymphs, and satyrs were running around making noise like little kids. Well, they were little kids, but Corinne still refused to have any of it. She was tired of the noise, tired of being around so many people. That was the reason she had decided to take a stroll through the more peaceful parts of Camp.
The sight of the frozen-over lake somehow calmed the daughter of the forge. It made the corners of her lips twitch upward in a smirk. Letting out a breath, mist seemed to come from her mouth as she exhaled slowly. The crisp air against her pale skin made Corin shiver slightly as a cold breeze pressed against her face. For a daughter of a Greek god who controlled the flame, Rin never seemed to be bothered by the cold.
Suddenly, out of the corner of her gray-blue eye, she spotted a lone satyr gathering snow. Corinne’s eyes shined as she realized that the satyr created a snowman. Memory flashbacks went through her mind of her and her younger sister dancing and playing around in the thick snows of Britain. Rin smiled at the satyr and leaned against a near-by tree. “Mind if I help you with that?” she asked after a moment of simply watching. Corin stepped forward and waved lightly to the satyr. “Hullo there, I’m Corin,” she introduced to herself. Normally, Rin wasn’t one to do this, but the memory flashbacks really made her feel like a child again.

It had been easy to hear the girl approaching. She wasn't masking her presence and it was hard to with the crunchy snow. Looking over, Ama blinked, and smiled. "Yeah sure. I'm trying to make it shaped like a bear." The satyress pushed her bangs out of her eyes, squashed down by her pink knit hat. Running her gloved fingers over the surface of the blobby snow. "I'm Amaranta. Mouthful, I know. Just call me Ama if it suits you." Giving a bright smile, she went back to molding the snow, adding and scraping. "So, what're you doing out in the cold?"

Corin's slightly childish and lighthearted side, a side not many people see, seemed to leak as she walked towards the satyr. She smiled, bending over to take a pile of snow in her hand. Absentmindedly, she began patting it into a compact ball of snow as her little companion spoke. The cold snow didn't bother Rin's bare fingers began carving the snow into a very detailed snow sculpture of a German Shepherd Dog's face. Wary of the snow being very delicate, Rin was careful to only pat and mold what she needed without the compact ball falling apart. The daughter of the forge has always had a knack for detailed carving and sculpting on almost any kind of surface, snow wasn't a particular exception. All she needed to do was be more gentle and careful.
When the she-satyr spoke about wanting to make the snowman look like a bear, ideas immediately went through Corinne's mind as to how it would exactly come about. She scrutinized the large circles of snow piled on top of each other and pressed her lips together. After a moment of surveying the snow, Rin smiled, and her eyes seemed to shine. “Sculpting it into a bear? Well then, I'm your girl,” she chuckled slightly. Putting her little German Shepherd Dog's head on the ground a little bit ways away from the main task. “Should it be a grizzly or Winnie the Pooh?” she asked with a soft smile.
At the introduction, Corin nodded. “Amaranta,” she said softly, her British accent thickening, “Lovely name really, Amaranta. Pleased to meet you.” Running her hand along the left side of the snow figure, she tilted her head slightly to check the main shape of the figure. Perhaps she should try thinking of putting her idea in a 3D rather than the 2D image she had in mind. As she continued to think, Rin hair barely heard Amaranta's question, but just shrugged. “Just wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the cabins and everywhere else actually,” she said, glancing at the satyr. “Hmm, what about you? To be honest, you're the first female satyr I've met.” Turning to Amaranta entirely, Sorin smiled softly, not bothered by the fact that her curiosity and playful side were showing more than she liked.

A nod at her answer, her hands moving to pack on more snow to get the rough shape. "Ah, Polar bear." She offered. "I even have coal for the claws." Ama was usually polite at least, unless with nymphs. But then again, most of them were hiding from the cold. The satyress plucked a leaf out of the snow she'd been gathering, her goat tail twitching. "Ah well, we're harder to find, I guess. I don't think I've ever met another in my life. But I'm only 15. Right now I'm just trying to stay sane. My first hero hunt mission's coming up..." She looked, terrified at the idea of leaving camp.
