| Alex Name: Alexander Crest Age/Birthday: He is 15 years old Gender: Male God Parent: Hephaestus Claimed: Yes Mortal Family: His mother, Mary Crest. No siblings. Years in Camp: 3 Brief History: Alex is the son of a long line of mechanics from southern Louisiana, dating back as far as the Civil War. His grandfather, a generous old Louisiana native, made a living (if you could call it that) fixing the boats of local shrimpers for barely any cost at all. In fact, he only charged enough to get the day's supper and repair broken tools. This generosity was passed to his only daughter, Mary Crest. Mary, the first in her family to attend college, became a biologist shortly after graduation, but agreed to take care of her father's shop after he passed away. After her father's death, Mary kept her promise and returned to her hometown to keep the shop open. Helping the best she could, she offered a steady job as a mechanic to any and all homeless people in the town, in exchange for working for her for a set amount of years. This flawless generosity, along with her mechanical skill, easily attracted the attention of Hephaestus, who appeared to her in the form of a drug addled swamper. While "rehabilitating", Mary and Hephaestus began courting, which led to several months of joy and peacefulness. However, realizing he could not stay forever, Hephaestus explained he had to leave, despite his love for her. Heartbroken, but strong, Mary bid her love farewell, only after his departure realizing she was pregnant. Because of his mother's promise, young Alex grew up in a tiny bayou town in Louisiana, a warm fuzzy childhood he remembers well. His earliest memories were in the garage, and her mother's botanical garden where she taught him the value of life, and creating things instead of destroying them. Raised on these ideals, Alex grew up a pacifist. It was at age 12 that Mary and Alex began to notice Alex's uncanny ability to fix things. He was able to fix even the most ravaged engines, and often in minutes. In his town he became a local star. Unfortunately, it was also around this time an old shrimper-turned-mechanic at the shop took an interest in Alex, a man called Bayou Bill. Bill followed Alex everywhere, spied on him, and even tried to talk to him several times, to the point where Mary asked him to leave the shop. Bill refused, instead revealing himself to be a very angry and very hungry Cyclops. Shoving Mary and her lead mechanic Robert aside, Bill moved to attack Alex, whom was hiding under an overturned boat in the shop. Kicking to get deeper under the boat, Alex accidentally kicked the boat's engine, activating the propeller, which, in turn, decimated Bill. A stunned Roger helped Alex out from under the boat, and revealed he was actually his satyr protector. With his astonished mom's blessing, and the promise he'd be back for winter months, Alex left with Roger to Camp Half Blood. Physical Appearance: Alex is an average sized kid, standing at 5'11" and weighing in at 160 pounds. He has black curly hair, and hazel eyes with little flecks of gold here and there that look like a fire in the right light. He isn't big or small, but is easily distinguished with a long scar tracing down the top of his left forearm from a boating accident as a child. His hands, no matter how clean and sanitary, ALWAYS seem to be covered in some kind of grime or oil from a mechanic's garage. Personality: Alex is what you might call an industrial hippie. He loves nature, machinery, people, even the monsters that try to kill him. In fact, no one knows what happens when he gets angry: he simply never gets angry. Alex is among the friendliest people in the world, loyal to everyone, and easily tricked by those whose intentions are not as pure. Alex refuses to fight, and is a pacifist: however, making weapons is among his favorite pass-times. Fatal Flaw: His ignorance. He believes everyone and everything is truly good at their core. Pets:None Talents: Alex is able to fix, create, or dismantle almost anything with only the slightest design or idea. Whether he has combat abilities or not is unknown. Weapons: His favorite forging hammer, Ol' Reliable sits in the Hephaestus forges, but it has never been used in combat. Year-Round or Summer: Summer Other: Alex is a pacifist, and no matter what is said or done, he refuses to harm another living being. He also finds it difficult to dismantle things, for similar reasons.

| Daren Name: Daren "Dare" Jones Age/Birthday: He is 17 years old Gender: Male God Parent: Apollo Claimed: Yes Mortal Family: To his knowledge, he has none. Years in Camp: 5 Brief History: Candie Jones, a Vegas showgirl, found herself understandably unhappy. Used for nothing but a pretty face and a nice body, she finally snapped, driving into the middle of the Mojave Desert to commit suicide. Watching her in the blistering heat of the Mojave, weeping and gasping and praying to every god of every religion she could think of, Apollo took pity on her. Assuming a mortal form, Apollo descended to her, not bothering to try to convince the half-crazed woman he was human. Candie, in her dehydration-addled mind, instantly fell in love with him. Managing to bring her back to Vegas, Apollo took the role of a VERY lucky gambler, and the two began a short but intimate relationship, in which Candie bore him a son: Daren. Revealing that he had to return to Olympus, Candie had a meltdown, and overdosed the night before Apollo was to leave. Seeing no other option, Apollo sadly put his son in the care of a saytr until he realized his potential. Dare grew up in a shanty neighborhood in Vegas, spending his childhood on the fire escape of his satyr protector's apartment with his guitar, a final gift from his father. He was a curious, however, and a quick learner, so it wasn't long before he was on the streets studying the local con artists. It was here Dare learned the value of a few flirtatious words and a charming smile. At age 12, Dare was rapidly becoming a well-known local musician, a decent gambler, and the most charming thief in Vegas. Unfortunately, the arrogant demigod's fame wasn't all a good thing. One night, Dare provided live entertainment at a local bar, listed as a local superstar. Shortly after his third song, Dare was viciously attacked by a hellhound, which the bar perceived as a lone coyote. Only surviving because his satyr protector managed to stab the beast from behind, Dare shakingly agreed to go to Camp Half Blood. Physical Appearance: Tall, lanky, and often bearded, Dare looks more like a drug addict than a son of a Greek god. He has several distinguishing tattoos on his arms and back, most of it Greek scripture, and permanent scars on his chest from his childhood encounter with a hellhound. He is handsome in a "I-know-I-shouldn't-go-near-him-but-I'm-going-to-anyway" kind of way, with short brown hair, brown eyes, and a rugged 5'o clock shadow. Personality: Dare is trouble. He is charming, street-smart, and constantly finds himself using others as stepping stones for his own gains, a habit he picked up during his childhood. That being said, Dare is not a bad person: just not exactly the kind of person a father would approve of his daughter dating. EVER. Dare is a stubborn guy, headstrong, and quick to defend his opinions and denounce everyone else's. For this reason, he does not have a huge group of friends, and infinitely prefers being around the opposite sex. Fatal Flaw: His arrogance. Dare believes he can get out of anything with a wink and a kiss. Pets:None Talents: Dare is a relatively smooth-talker, but his true talent lies in his music. Despite his beliefs, he has solved far more problems with his guitar than his words. Weapons: Prefers a bow and arrow, but doesn't mind using a dagger. Year-Round or Summer: Year-round Other: There are rumors that Dare actually talked a manticore out of attacking him and his satyr protector on their way to camp. In reality, he played a short melody on the guitar, which confused the monster, and then proceeded to whack him in the head with it. | |
