| The Sadie Hawkins Dance. Girls ask boys. Well, Hali didn't ask anyone to the dance. She didn't know enough people. Wearing a short teal dress with a flared skirt, accessoriesed with a white sash and white heels, she was ready for a night of dancing, not matter who the partner for the dancing was! Her blond hairwas curled, held back with shiny white ribbon worn like a headband, bright deep sea blue eye were shadowed with a shimmer of white. The lights, the music. It filled her up.
It didn't take long for the unclaimed girl to make it to the middle of the floor, twirling and dancing to the music on her own.

| Sterling walked into the dance, gazing at the couples twirling around and chatting. No girl had asked him to go to the dance. Not one! He gazed around the dance, looking for a girl who was alone. His eyes locked on one particularly pretty girl. She was wearing a short teal dress, and she had curly blonde hair. He walked up to her, smiled, and held out his arm. "Would you like to dance?"

| Turning and blinking, Hali smiled. "Oh, uhm, sure! No date?" she asked, shifting on her heels. Reaching out to take the offered arm, the blond girl smiled. "So what kind of dancing do you like to do?" she asked, moving to the music with him. "I'm Hali, by the way." | |

| He reached out and stroked her hair. "I'm Sterling. And, no, I don't have a date. I'm quite surprised you don't, with those looks." They slowly started to twirl, and for a moment, it almost felt like a scene in an old Disney flick. | |

| "Uhm, well. I've only been here a short time. I didn't know anyone to ask. I had intended on going home and helping my dad on our boat. He's a fisherman. But he told me to stay here and learn to fight so he doesn't have to worry about me getting attacked." Hali looked up, blinking as they twirled. She smelled like she'd been swimming in the ocean recently. | |
