A new arrival. Open

It's early one morning, no earlier than 8 A.M. When a new figure is seen on the hill, a male, about 15, and with black hair that has a red streak in it and stormy gray eyes with pale skin. He has nice clothes and walks up the hill to the tree. He and his dog, an average sized female Siberian husky stop to rest by the tree the dog comes over and lays down with her head in his lap, blue eyes watching him protectively. The boy watches the entire valley from we're he sits, wondering what life is like inside his new home, since he had no family other than the half brothers and half sisters in the valley down there and huxleigh up here with him. Life would be different than what he was used too, but he was ready. He sat there enjoying the view for a bit longer. Huxleigh let out a small whine and moved closer to John. "What is it girl? You want some attention don't you?" John said and reached down to scratch behind the husky's ear. Her tail started wagging a little bit from the attention. John was content to sit up at the top of the hill for a while before he went down into that camp, it felt right up here.

"You new?" A feminine voice asked from neaby. A girl, wheeling up in a wheelchair, grocery bags tucked into a box on the back, smiled. She had obviously taken great care on her appearance. Perfectly done hair, fresh manicure on her nails. A blanket covered her legs, hiding them from view. She looked about fifteen. "Think you could help me into camp, this stupid thing is hard to wheel up the hill on my own."

"Huh? Oh yeah sure no problem. Also, yes I am new here." John said to the girl as he stood up to help her get back into the camp. Huxleigh stood up without a word and started to follow John as he pushed the girl's wheelchair down into the camp, feeling completley and totally awkward while doing so. He stopped at the bottom of the hill, inside the camp now. ""so... Where do you need to go now? Or are you able to get there yourself?" John asked the girl. He stood there and waited for her response while his dog bounced around him trying to catch some birds that flew overhead.

The girl sighed with relief as they wheeled into the protected sanctity of camp. "Thank you so much. I hate being stuck like that and not being able to just get up and push it myself. My name's Amaranta." Pulling the blanket off her legs, she stood, stretching each..goat leg! "But if I get up, mortals would -FLIP-. *I wouldn't do that pup. Some of those birds aren't actually birds*. So what's your name, new Hero?" Amaranta would motion with her perfectly manicured hand for him to follow her as she wheeled the chair towards the arts and crafts cabin. Even her hooves were pedicured, painted a lively pink with cute little rhinestones to match her nails.

John looked at the girl."you have goat legs!?" he said surprised. Huxleigh turned and seeing the goat legs, Immediatly thought she was looking at a nice tasty goat leg meal. John turned to see her eyeing the leg. "huxleigh! No! Leave the girl alone. Sit. Sit. Good girl. Now come here and meet the nice girl." John said to his dog. She came over and sat looking at the girl, confused at what she saw. "I'm John, John Everte. Son of Athena." John said to the girl.

"Uh...yeah? I'm a satyr...well... A satyress to be exact. The lady-folk kind." She looked at the dog and frowned. "*You might not want to try and eat the satyrs and centaur around here. We don't take kindly to it and most will try and hurt you or turn you out of camp.*" She spoke to the dog carefully. Mortal pets. "You'll want to keep her in check. There's more like me here, and they're meaner." Once at the arts and crafts cabin, she unloaded the bags and brought them in to restock the supplies in the cabinets. "So, were you shocked by my legs in general, or by the fact there are girl satyrs?"

"to be honest, I didn't know Satyrs existed. Only that monsters did. Huxleigh is a smart girl she won't hurt anybody." John said to ama. *How can I understand you and talk to you?* Huxleigh followed John right into the building, and sat down by the two. John helped ama with the stacking. He saw something hanging from his dog's collar, his father's brass rank. John had almost forgotten about his dad dying. He stared at it before turning back to helping. No point in moping and being useless.

"I'm not worried about her hurting anyone. I'm worried about them hurting her." Ama didn't want to sugar coat it. "It's dangerous out there and even in here. You need to be careful. *Because I'm a nature creature.*" Finishing putting away all the glue, glitter, pipecleaners and such she could fit in the supply closet, she stretched. "Has anyone shown you around? We might want to get you some books on the old myths, or else you're in for a long day of surprises."

"you were the first living thing I saw here. So nobody has done so. And my mom is Athena, I figure I could probably kill a few books in about an hour or two." John said with a smile. Huxleigh licked ama's hand to get her attention. *can I talk to all nature spirits? What if I try hard enough, can I talk to my human?*

"Well, you'll be able to rip through the greek stuff. I've heard even kids of Athena sometimes struggle when reading English. I'll take you to the library." Looking down at the dog sympathetically she shook her head. "*Satyrs at least, you can. But you probably won't be able to talk to your human unless he is given a blessing or gift of some sort. I'm sorry...*" Moving out, her hooves clicking on the wood and stone, she lead him to the large library. "So how'd you find the place if you had no guide?"

"a little help from my mom." Jason said quietly and indicated his bracelet, which turned into a sword, also from his Mother. He followed ama into the library, his dog still on his tale. *but I want to talk to my human!* huxleigh let out a soft whine. John turned Immediatly to comfort her. Telling her it was okay and petting her.

Ama looked at the dog. "*No use whining about it. I can't change it and neither can you. Maybe I can relay messages, but don't expect me to do it all the time.*" Moving inside, she began taking down books on mythical creatures. "Here. You need to learn about satyrs, centaur, and all sorts of creatures. I'm a satyr. Mainly it'll talk about them in masculine. Female satyrs are rare."

John walked around and pulled one off of the shelf and opened it, of course it was the book addressing drakons. He read it fast, and soaked up all the information. i would hate to run into one of these suckers. he said calmly while reading the book. It was very insightful.
