Prologue
Camp Half Blood, on the outside, looked like any regular fandom-run roleplay site. It had categories for character creation, fanfiction, and encompassed the main setting of the book it was based off of. The exterior of the site was a slick black, and just recently had there been a visual overhaul, where the colors changed, a new flag was put up to wave in the virtual winds (courtesy of one of the site’s members who goes most commonly by the names Rune or Sapphire) and the size of the site’s homepage was extended to tend to the growing number of people and their brilliant ideas.
There was no doubt that this site was one of the best Percy Jackson paradises that the internet had to offer. But for more than just the smooth color palette, bustling activity or even the detailed banner perched at the top of the home page. The site itself was a literal haven to its members. A place to get away and forget the previous world in which they suffered. Because when a member tapped their name into the log-in page, they entered a new universe entirely. A map of rolling plains, humbled villages of wooden cabins and straw homes, and sparkling lakes and rivers, all seeping with wildlife and mystery. Golden waves of Poseidon tossed against the cliff sides where the indigenous people had settled their tribes, and the warm breeze of the wind masters whispered through the clusters of forestry. Dozens of moons could be seen in full at any point in time here—and that’s to even assume time did pass in the mystical world—while the sun peaked only in the southern hemisphere, the starting point of every new adventure, where it was always light out and night was but a myth. In fact, to say it peaked would be incorrect, as it remained stationary, and did not rise or fall from behind the rocky mountain tops.
In this world, only the members could be considered “ordinary.” And even that was only partially true, as most held considerable talents and powers that may have been deemed strange to the population on the other side of the monitor. These warriors, scholars, builders, tamers, healers and hunters were often times lost when trapped in Earth’s Reality. But they felt solace and triumph in this fantasy world. Their true home was Riorridian, where they shone amongst the Gods.
