| Uh hey everyone. I'm still trying to orient myself with the site, so I thought I could jump on here and do what I do best (or at least most), talk, so you guys can get to know me a little better.
Yesterday was October 14, which was the 2 year anniversary of when my father revealed that he was actually a criminal, and he had secretly created a Ponzi scheme (its an investment scam). Now, I live in a privileged town, a bubble from the rest of the world pretty much, and I had a nice upbringing. I mean, we were never as ridiculously rich as most of the families from my town are, but we never had money trouble. My father was never mean, he rarely became upset, and he was (or so I thought) an all-around great guy. For you to understand it, I have to start at the very beginning.
On Thursday, October 7th, my dad left for California, where most of his family now lives. Apparently, my aunt (his sister) had been in a bad car accident, bad enough all of my father's family was flying in. This disturbed me, but I didn't think much of it, I wasn't particularly close to my aunt.
On Thursday October 14, 2010, my freshman self got to come home early (freshmen play football games on Thursday nights rather than traditional Friday nights; They can't play varsity football at my high school, because they have their own 9th grade campus) because we didn't have a game that day. My mother was a stay-at-home-mom at the time, and when I got home she was in her bedroom crying. Now, my mom is a Texan as well as I am. I don't want to sound pretentious, but we are generally tough people, and hence, we do not cry often. So, naturally, this scared me to death.
I walked in and sat on her bed, and I held her a long time. She was crying really hard, and we sat there for about an hour before she could speak. The very first thing she said was "We have no money."
Now, I know this sounds pretty materialistic, but you have to understand something I found out much later: this was not the first time my father had illegally obtained money. There are a million other things he did I could tell you, but that would take a lot of space up. Long story short, my dad stole money from some bad people, lied to everyone for years, and had a four year affair with a woman who's daughter I almost dated.
My dad was arrested for his crimes March 12, 2012, two days before my younger brother's 12th birthday, and nine days before my sixteenth. I talk to him about every week, and I have a drawer full of his letters, but I've never sent him any back. He is supposed to get out in 5 years.
I'm sorry, i know this is an extremely long post, but I'd like to get to know all of you better, and for that to happen, I think you all ought to know something about me. I draw a lot of my characters when I write from my past experiences, and most my characters are influenced from my father, like my current character Taylor Grey. So all in all, I hope this helps everyone know me a bit better, and I appreciate everyone that read this. :) | |
