Dancing for No-one [Pinkgirl]

Iulia Yonescu strode through the Cabin Courtyard, pleased to find that it was empty. Good, she always practiced better when there wasn't an audience. Even though she had to give up her classes three years ago when she arrived at Camp, Iulia still practiced. She had her teacher send her what the class was doing so she could still learn. That way, when she went to the city to see her adoptive family she could also go to the dance centre and join the class. It was always a nice reunion, and everyone was always surprised that Iulia was still keeping up. She was determined not to fall behind though. And to do that she would have to practice. There wasn't enough room in her own cabin since a few of her siblings were still in there. So Iulia had come out here instead. She tied up her ballet shoes and did some warm up exercises. They were always dull, but Iulia knew she had to do them before she could get to the fun part.

About 15 minutes later she was finally done with the warm up. Now to the fun part. First, Iulia practiced her leaps. The routine the class was doing involved quite a few leaps, so they needed to be perfect. She did all the types of leaps in the routine, plus a few extra. She repeated each leap five times. Iulia was very thorough in her work. Next she started on the turns and twirls and all the other sequences in the routine that was not classified as a leap. Once again, she performed each movement about five times. Finally she was ready to perform the actual routine. Iulia glanced around quickly before she began. Good, she was still the only one in the courtyard. She hummed the music to herself quietly. She didn't need the actual music, she had memorized it. As she performed the routine only half of Iulia's mind was on what she was doing. It was always like this. Since her mother was the Muse of Dance Iulia didn't have to focus completely on what she was doing. Part of her mind could just enjoy the fun. Finally Iulia was in her finishing pose, and that was when she heard the clapping. She spun around to see a person. Great, she had been watched. The person moved forward, still clapping. Iulia lowered from her points and waited for the person to say something.

Iulia appraised the girl lightly, smiling slightly. Most people thought she danced well, and that was what Iulia expected. She was a daughter of Terpsichore after all. Iulia bent down, unlacing her ballet shoes, keeping her head up so she could listen to the girl and not seem rude. She had just finished taking off her second shoe when the girl introuduced herself. Iulia stood up straight and smiled at the girl again. "Nice to meet you Avalon, I'm Iulia. Daughter of Terpsichore." she said happily.

Iulia was all for meeting new people. She enjoyed it. She wasn't one of those crazy people who went around bouncing off the walls because they were so happy. But she liked to think that she was generally pleasant. But Iulia still preferred to practice her dancing alone. It made her concentrate more. She tipped her head to the side slightly and appraised Avalon. She had wrote a poem about her? That was new. But Avalon was a daughter of Apollo, and he was the God of poetry. Iulia really shouldn't be surprised.

"So what brings you out her?" she asked. Sure, the weather was nice. But most people didn't just hang around the Cabin Courtyard for the weather. Usually they were just passing through, on their way to somewhere else. Rarely did people actually stop here, like Iulia did. Occasionally you would find a couple of people here, just sitting on the benches and chatting. That's really all people did when they stopped here; talked and soaked up the sun. Iulia refocused on Avalon, still waiting for an answer.

Iulia smiled at Avalon as she complimented her name. Not many people did. Most said something along the lines of 'That's a weird name!'. This annoyed Iulia since it was actually a slightly bit racist to call her name weird just because it wasn't American or English or whatever. "Thanks, it's Romanian." she explained. Iulia didn't add that she, herself, was Romanian. It was probably self-explanatory, especially once you heard Iulia's last name.

Iulia frowned slighty as Avalon explained she couldn't dance. What? Everyone could dance, in some way. Dancing was easy. But, then again, Iulia was the daughter of the Goddess of Dance. But even the people who had used to be in her dance class could dance, and none of them were demigods. At least, Iulia was pretty sure they were mortal. She switched back to the issue at hand. Iulia hated it when people said they couldn't do something. 'Oh, I can't do that; it's too hard. Oh, I can't do that; I don't know how.' Iulia herself always tried anything once.

That's when Avalon suggested her idea. Iulia grinned at her happily. Avalon was at least trying to learn to dance, and Iulia wanted her to succeed. "Sure, I'll teach you. But what style of dance? I can teach you contemporary, ballet or a bit of hip hop." she said, listing off the styles of dance she knew. Iulia didn't want to teach Avalon somethig she wasn't proficient at, after all.
