Katriel Neve looked up the Climbing Wall and smiled to herself slightly. She rarely came to this place; the lava was much to hot for her. But today she felt like she needed a break from routine. And climbing a dangerous thing was always good for people who were bored. The daughter of Khione pulled a hairband off her wrist and tied her hair up in a cheerleader type ponytail. Then she walked over to the wall, ignoring all the ropes and other safety items. Katriel had stopped using them at least five years ago. She grabbed the first rock and started scrambling up the wall.

After a minute or so Katriel heaved herself onto the top of the wall and just sat there. This was her favourite part of the wall. You could see basically the whole Camp from up here. Katriel gazed down at her own cabin. It looked like a little play igloo that small children played with. So fragile. But in reality it was super strong, and the ice never melted. As her gaze drifted she caught a glance of something at the edge of her vision. When she glanced down she noticed that it was a person. She tipped her head to the side and waited for them to reach the top.

Derek was very bored today. Unlike most days, he decided to go to the climbing wall. He only had gone a few times a year. And climbing wasn't much of his thing. Today, he wanted to reach the top. He was very determined. He suited himself with gear. Starting on the first rock, he gently grabbed it. Pulling himself up one by one. Trying to get up, he did. Derek was only a few rocks away from the top. Noticing a per on at the top, he climbed slower. After five seconds, he made it, sitting at the top of the wall. "Hey." he said. Derek bit his lip after speaking. Derek looked at the girl smiling widely.

Katriel watched as a cute boy pulled himself up onto the top of the wall. She smiled at him pleasantly. "Hi, it's Derek. Right?" she asked after his greeting. Katriel had seen this guy around Camp before. He was a son of Ares or something like that. But she'd never really spoken to him before. She'd never really seen him close up before either. That was probably why she'd never realised he was so cute. It was strange how you could be surrounded by so many good looking people and not even realise it. Katriel had probably just gotten used to it.

Derek sat next to the girl. He nodded once. "Yep, how'd you know. And last time I checked, you were the lovely Katriel right?" He said. Smiling, he thought for a moment. He never had time to talk to her. Although, he had seen her around. He smiled at Katriel. He grinned, in that huge grin he always would have. "So, how've you been?" he said. Derek waited quietly. He looked into Katriel's bright eyes. She was cute, he thought. He starred at her. Stopping, realizing what he was doing, starring, he stopped. He looked at Katriel, he couldn't stop. He thought she was very pretty. And he really liked her. He wondered why he never talked to her. Now, he regrets it. But of course, now he had his chance.

A slow smile spread over Katriel's face once again. "Well, I'm not so sure about lovely but I am Katriel." she said happily. She always loved it when people complimented her, guy or girl. Katriel generally wasn't a vain person, but she had a love for compliments. She refocused on Derek as he spoke again. "I've been fine. Nothing particularly exciting. What about you?" she said with a shrug.

Derek tilted his head. "Your right. Your not lovely, your beautiful and lovely." He said winking. Derek nodded. "I'm good. Nothing really. Same old, same old." He said. Derek looked at the sun gazing on them. And then back at Katriel. "So Katriel, do you know when you pass someone and you never seem to bother talking. But meanwhile you want to?" He asked. Sure enough she must've known he was talking about her. Now he regret it. Not realizing that you can be best friends with that person. Or even more than friends.

A soft blush tinted Katriel's relatively plae cheeks. Derek was very good at flattery. He made her feel special, but that probably wasn't very hard to do. "Oh stop. You'll turn me into a spoilt brat." she said jokingly. Katriel was very fond of compliments, and flirting. And Derek was very good at both those things. "Um yeah, I know the feeling." she said, to aswer his question. Was he talking about her? Because he had described their situation perfectly.

Derek tilted his head and smiled. "Well, I mean realizing that one day you can be friends with that person. Or maybe even more than friends." He said looking at Katriel. "Like, I never got a chance to stop and talk to you. And its almost hard to explain. You know?" He added. Derek never had really had a conversation or ever exchanged words. But thinking that his best friend, he used to just walk by. And Derek only saw Katriel once. Or may have even saw a glimpse of her a few more times. Derek wondered what was going on in her mind. Bad things? Or good?

Katriel arched an eyebrow at Derek. More than friends? Alright, that was a direct reference. Katriel fluttered her eyelashes at Derek slightly before giving him her answer. "Yeah, I know the feeling." she said, edging slightly closer to Derek. She loved to flirt. And Derek was cute, so the flirting could easily turn into something more. But he would had to make the first move, Katriel wasn't very good at that. She was much better at flirting.

Derek nodded. He took a deep breath and smiled brightly. "Well, yeah. In case, you haven't noticed, I was talking about you." Derek said. His face turned bright red. He smiled again as his face turned red like he had run a marothon. Although, he was not sweating. He never sweat around girls. Only when he ran. "I mean, well." Derek said. He didn't know what to say. So he just smiled. And kept on smiling. He always smiled. Always.
