Poppy pulled her sword from the ground. Maybe she should stick to archery. Though she wasn't that hood at that. She wasn't much good at anything.
She sighed and got into ready position again, her muscles ached and she stumbled, knocking onto someone.

"Ouch," I mumbled as a girl bumped into me.

I had gone to the Arena to try and attempt knife throwing, since I had a dagger in my possession. I now knew that being a demigod, and not knowing how to use your weapon was not a good combination.

I immeadiatly became curious. "What is it you are doing?" I asked the girl.

She laughed when the little girl asked what she was doing.
"I'm trying not to stab myself in the foot! Well, maybe that's a little exaggerated, but still." Poppy smiled.

I chuckled. At least she was nice. "Are you unfamiliar with your weapon? When did you get it?" I asked her. I wanted to know more about weapons, and see what they're like. But I'll hopefully stick with my dagger. The only thing I have left of Rita.

"Oh me and this thing go way back!" Poppy shrugged. "I just practice with my bow more than this. It's practically decoration!"
Poppy blew a wisp of red hair out of her face, blowing harder as it floated back down. Giving up, she just brushed out of the way with her hand.

"It is interesting that you are better with a bow. I don't have the skill or precision to use one properly. In fact, I cannot use any weapon properly," I said with a smile. It was true. I was unfamiliar with all weapons. I had just gotten this dagger, and I had helped kill a monster.

"I guess." Poppy shrugged again. "It just feels natural. And with my bow I can do medium to long range, then have this sword for short range." Though it'll mostly be me getting hurt by the sword, Poppy thought.
"I'm Poppy." She said, almost like an afterthought. "Athena kid."

"Well enough for an eight-year-old," I said. I looked at my dagger. It was a plain silver color, but glowed softy. That marked that it was indeed celestial bronze. I pressed the small diamond on the hilt, and it turned back into my butterfly pin. I pinned it on my jean jacket, and then messed with my necklace.

"Cool! It's one of those transformation thingamajiggers? I would get one made, but I'd forget about it and accidentally stab myself when the sword or arrows opened up." Poppy shrugged, glancing at her sword.
"Do you have any siblings back in the mortal, normal, whatever, world? I do. They're Alaska, Lou, short for Louisiana, and George. Like Georgia, only boy-y." Poppy smiled, missing her favorite little sibling, Alaska.

It was more than true. I had lived in a foster home, no siblings, just people to look out for. I was the leader of the home, directing families to the other kids. The ones who needed it.

Then Rita came, and wouldn't accept anyone but me. Then she disapeered. My stomach lurched at teh memory.

"Do you know when the next Capture the Flag is?" Poppy asked. "Maybe we'll team up. I certainally don't want to face you. You look very fearsome with that dagger." Poppy smiled warmly.
"And Febuary's almost up and the CTF as supposed to be monthly. Unless I got it wrong..." Poppy rambled on, thinking.

"Let's see if your good luck has rubbed off on me." Poppy faced the dummy again with the sword at the ready.
She advanced forward as she'd been taught, and managed to strike the dummy this time.
"Woohoo!" She yelled, and beamed.

"I did it!" Poppy cheered. "Either I'm getting better, not really likely, or you're awesome, which is pretty likely!"
Poppy slid her sword into her sheath, which was simple leather, like the blade, only the blade was able to kill monsters. If you smacked the monster with the sheath, the monster would only get annoyed. Poppy knew that from experience. Hint: Never wander in the forest at dusk while tired.
