By the Lake

I was walking around camp when I decied to go to the lake. I hadn't been there in a while. I walked up the dock of the lake. I sat on the end my bare feet hanging off the end and in the water.

I was walking past the lake and headed to the armory to work on new weapons when I saw a girl sitting alone at the dock's edge. Well, who wants to be alone? I thought as I walked over and sat next to her. "Hi." I said.

I looked up at the girl. "Oh hi." I smiled at her. "Want to sit with me?" I asked her.

"Sure," I said. I took my sneakers off and dropped my feet into the lake. "What brings you here to the lake?" I asked her. She looked like she might've been older than me. "I'm Sammy by the way."

"I'm Klarissa. Nice too meet you Sammy." I sighed. "Well I'm here cause I wanted some alone time. What about you?"

"Curiousity and boredom," I answered. "Nice to meet you. You look a little down." I said. "Is everything okay?"

I sighed. "I'm fine. I guess I'm just a little- I don't know. I've just not been sleeping well."

"Really?" I asked. "Are you having nightmares or stuff like that?" I asked her while swinging my legs, making ripples in the water.

"I guess so. I don't remeber anything when I wake up. I just feel scared. I don't know why though. It's so confusing."

"I doubt you lost your mind," I said to Klarissa. "And if you have, hey, I heard insanity is all the rage with kids nowadays!" I said, trying to cheer her up.

I laughed. "Thanks." I smiled at her. "I guess I'm just weird."

"Being a weird just means you're doing something right in your life." I said. "I mean if we weren't weird, we'd all be the same. Being weird just means you're cool enough to be yourself." I said to her as I moved my feet in the water.

I laughed. "I don't know, I'd rather be fixing cars and stuff." I said to Klarissa. "I guess you can probably tell I'm a daughter of Hephaestus by my last statement. What about you?" I asked.

"Lucky. I know NOTHING about cars. Just that they need gas." I laughed. "I'm a daughter of Nike."

I laughed. "Haha, well knowledge of cars takes time to procure. I grew up in my grandfather's car shop. I sorta learned as I went and eventually ended up helping out whenever I could, thus earning me all these stains," I said, pointing to an oil-stained mark on my shorts just above the knee. "Nike, eh? Nice. Tell me about yourself." I said, curious.
