I strolled leisurely through the fields, I was thinking about the death of Zan, in my 12 years at camp more than half had been spent looking up to her. She was my idol and I was taking her death hard. I had been at the battle I could've done something. I blamed myself and I had gone pretty quiet never talking really to anyone unless spoken to. People had been saying I was ill. Was I?

Bellinda took a breath of fresh air. Finally, after why seemed like months, she was off her crutches. She spun around, stretching her arms above her head. 'No pain,' she thought with a wide grin. For the first time since the first battle, she didn't feel any pain when she stretched her arms or took in a deep breath. She ran her fingers through her hair as she strolled through the strawberry fields. She twirled a vine around her finger, watching it weave in and out like a tame snake. She lifted her head, hearing footsteps. What was that girl's name again? She noticed her a ways away, looking deep in thought. Bell pursed her lips. She was horrible with names, since she didn't even waste the energy trying to remember them at all. "Hey kid! What letter does your name start with?!" she called. She was going to figure out this name...it would bug her all day of she didn't.

I looked up from the cold ground, Belinda Maarx Leader of Dionysus didn't know me? "K" I responded quietly, she should know me.. I was the leader of the Apollo cabin for quite sometime and even though I don't think we ever conversed I was pretty well known around camp. "You're Belinda, Dionysus Cabin leader?"

Bellinda thought for a moment. "K...K....Kelly? Or maybe Katherine....Katie! That's it!" she said, snapping her fingers when she figured it out. She never remembered anyone's name unless she actually tried to remember it. Bell gave a nod. "Yep, daughter of a drunk and your service.." she said with a lopsided smirk.

I raised my eyebrow, normally I would have laughed or made a joke but I just wasn't feeling myself since.. the battle. "Hopefully not drunk yourself?" I questioned. "Yes I'm Katie, daughter of Apollo... err at your service I guess.." I said "I see you've lost your crutches?"

Bellinda shook her head. "Nope. None of us Dionysus kids are allowed to get drunk until the battles over.." she said. Bellinda scratched her neck and gave a nod. "Yep, finally rid of the dang things. Now I can finally fight again.." she replied. Man, these campers knew their cabin leaders. Should she try and remember people?? Nah...
ooc: Just imagine the dang as a "different" word xD (I can't swear. But Bellinda would swear there since she has the mouth of a sailor..sooo..yeah xD)

I shrugged and pulled up my shirt revealing my heavily bandaged abdomen, "I took a spear straight in the stomach." I said "I'm still going to fight even if they say no. They've killed too many friends and siblings." I said lowering my shirt. Zan ran through my mind again and I couldn't help but shed a tear for her. "How about you, you lost anyone near and dear? Or is it always a party with you?"

OOC: Kay! As it turns out I don't think Katie much likes Dionysus xD

Bellinda clenched her fists. "I'll have you know..yes. I did. Roxanne. She is one of my best friend's mother. And she was also my my friend. And people assuming the Dionysus cabin is a bunch of drunks is so cliché it's almost sad. Come up with a new stereotype if you're going to try and insult me. Because right not you're being extremely unorigional," she said, yawning a bit as she spoke.
ooc: Bellinda doesn't like anyone xD So I suppose it's pretty even.

I remained emotionless, I suppose I would have retorted normally. "Roxanne was my mentor, Hero, if you will. I've always looked up to her." I met her eyes "and about 99% of the time you are all drunk." I said, "It's not just a stereotype."

Bellinda scowled. "You can insult me as much as you want. But don't you dare insult my cabin. They're good kids, all of them. Just because we have am idiot father doesn't mean they're anything like him, or me. They've all been out in that battle field and in the arena training their little butts off. Don't you dare associate my problems and my parents' problems with them..if I did that with you then I'd call Apollo cabin a bunch of arrogant snobs that can't lower their noses enough to realize they're about to trip over their own to feet," she retorted. It was obvious Bellinda was very defensive over her cabin, as any cabin leader would be.

Again I raised my eyebrow, "You can think whatever about us. I honestly could care less." I yawned "I speak the truth, just because you guys can't get off your butts to fight a battle maybe SAVE A LIFE like we do, than this conversation wouldn't be happening. Furthermore you say you're banned off alcohol but have you smell like liquor to me."

Bellinda narrowed her eyes. "Maybe your nose is up so high you're catching drafts of wind.." she said. "And do you realize that my cabin has been in every single battle. Who do think controls the vines and trees for you guys?" she pointed out, flicking her wrist so a vine wrapped itself around Katie's ankle. "I have no problem with your cabin. In fact, your cabin leader Hale and I get along pretty well. Maybe that's why he replaced you...because he wasn't such a little b****.." she suggested. She unclenched her fist and the vine that had wrapped itself around Katie's ankle slithered away silently. "Think whatever you want another me. Think whatever you want about my dad. It's probably right. But don't judge my cabin before you actually realize that they're good kids. Every. Single. One of them," she said. Bellinda then turned on her heels, stopping a moment to look back at Katie. "I'm sorry you're upset about Roxanne's death. I am too. But do you really think she'd want you moping around? If you actually knew her at all, you'd know that's not her style.." she said before she stuffed her hands in her pockets and started forward towards the cabins.

"You do know why I left right?" I asked, "Why Nico became leader?" I sighed, "It's because I tried to bring back Luke... after him and I dated.. well I thought I had something.." I shuddered "Turns out he had no problem ordering my death. So next time you want to get p.o. at me think about what I've done for everyone." I balled my fist, "Don't tink I can't handle myself either."

Bellinda glanced over your shoulder. "I'm sure you can handle yourself. Otherwise that spear wound would have killed you," she said simply. Bellinda picked a few of the strawberries, plopping them in her mouth. She winced at the slightly sour taste. Looks like this area hadn't been taken care of today. She bent down, running her fingers along the plant. The strawberries quickly brightened in color. Bell reached for one now, giving a nod of approval at its new, sweet taste. She rose to her feet, picking another strawberry. "Here," she said, tossing a strawberry to Katie. "How's that taste to you?" she asked, keeping her eyes on the plants.

Mood swings? I thought questioningly. I bit into the fruit wondering if she had poisoned it,* "It tastes bitter." I said, "Just like my mood. Mood fruit?" I asked, "You're good with plants. I'd think you were Demeter if I didn't know any better?"

* - I don't actually eat strawberries.. so I don't know what they taste like.. Ha..

Bellinda slowly nodded her head. "Lots of training. I actually had a few Demeter kids teach me. But I'm better with vines than anything," she explained. Bellinda sighed. "With all the battles and death and sadness no one has taken care of this place. I know it's not a very frequently visited area of camp, but it's one of my favorite places..." she explained. Bell sighed, rising to her feet. She silently wished she had something to water these plants with.

I shrugged wondering why she was telling me this, "Yeah, I don't come here often myself.. just needed a quiet place to go for a walk, Y'know? Get some air try and think," I bit my tongue holding back on an obvious insult. Belinda wasn't SO bad, at least she was nice.

Bellinda nodded her head. "It is a good place for thinking.." she said, glancing up at Katie. She stuffed her hands in the pockets of her skinny jeans. "I come here a lot to write and draw...it's a great place to gather thoughts and get inspiration.." she said, glancing around. She squinted her purple eyes as she looked in the direction of the sun. The bright light made her skin look paler than usual as it glowed a radiant gold.

I shrugged "Everyone goes places for a reason, I also just like being in the sun, here gets a lot of sun... so.." I looked at the sky "Guess it's just right for me." I twirled a finger in my hair, "How's Dionysus been taking the war?"

Bellinda shrugged her shoulders. "Quite a bit of injuries...but no deaths have been reported from my cabin yet...and of course my dad is probably off getting drunk and chasing dryads somewhere to "relieve stress" as he seems to call it," she said with obvious disdain. "We all try not to think about who our father is..." she explained, rubbing the back of her neck.

I sat down on the ground "What about your Mom?" I asked "Do you think a lot about her?" I tried not to think about my Mom, it was my fault she was dead, I lost control.. I was so angry. The paramedics said heat exhaustion but I knew better.

Bellinda shook her head. "No..." she replied rather bluntly. "I don't enjoy thinking about my mother either...the only family I have our my siblings.." she explained. "Family that I'm proud of at least.." she added with a small sigh. "You're a lucky one...having Apollo as your dad. We all envy you guys you know. Apollo cabin...basically every other cabin. Do you want to know why we're all so mean and drunk all the time? Because we all don't want to be who we are. No one takes pride in being a Dionysus kid...I don't care if they claim they do.." her voice faded away as she shook her head. "We're all born with the urge to make wine and alcohol in our family, just like you want to be in the sun. The noly reason we drink it too is because everyone thinks we do in the first place...so because everyone thinks we're drunken we get depressed, wish we had a different parent, and then become exactly what everyone says we are.." she said with a sigh.

The answer to that seemed obvious, "So be different? Do unexpected things? Date a few boys for a while people will talk and I don't mean in a bad way." I laid on the grass pulling up the back of my shirt letting the sun sink into my skin, "Whats so hard about that anyways? So they say you get drunk who cares?"

Bellinda pursed her lips, thinking for a moment. "Because we all associate ourselves with our father. Everyone in camp does, no matter who their parent is. Our father is a drunken, short man who makes wine. We associate ourselves with him. So when people call us drunks...at first we say "no we're not", then after a while of people not believing us we stop answering the question, still believing inside we're not. And then eventually...we all just sort of believe what they're saying. Because we all have that drunken gene in us, some more than others depending on who our mothers were. It's much harder than it seems. People say "don't listen to them" blah blah blah...but it's not that easy to stop stereotypes from...eing stereotypes," she said, lying down and folding her arms behind her head. "And I am dating someone...and I care about him a lot. He's my best friend..." she said with a smile. "We're not all drunken whores...some are, I'll admit. And some of us just pretend like we are, just so we don't have to hear people say it to our faces..." she said with a sigh.

"I didn't say any of you WERE drunken whores." Katie said calmly "My point is, why should you care, people can think what they want as long as you're happy. If it takes that much trouble to be happy, are you really making yourself content?"
