Two guys go into a bar and both order a scotch on the rocks. Both drinks are identically poisoned to kill the men. The first man (Bob) downs his drink and goes home. The second man (Larry) talks with friends and watches the game before finishing his drink.
The next day Larry is found dead as a result of the poison in his drink, Bob does not die-why is this?

The poison is in the ice of their drinks and Bob's ice didn't melt

The poison was in the ice, and since Larry drank his slowly, the ice melted, and his whole drink was poisoned. Bob, on the other hand, downed his, so he didn't drink the ice. :P

The man thought it was lightning, so he jumped, scared for his life. He hit his head on the side of the boat and fell into the water and drowned. But the flash was only someone taking his picture from the shoreline because he of a wanted criminal for robbing the policeman's favorite donut shop, thus forcing them out of business. xD

This sentence is actually not related to the gemstone itself. It's just hidden among the words of the sentence (which totally defeated the purpose of a riddle, but hey, I wanted to try this. You'll laugh when I tell you the answer later.)

I was looking for like, a word with a letter or 2 in each word. I thought it might be sapphire, but I only found saph Dx I'll keep looking...
