veronica loric.
Even though he was out of what her siblings would class as the 'critical zone', worry still ate away at Ronnie's mind -- and while he had rested, she had cooked, focusing on anything but the feeling. Maybe the meal piled onto the tray was a bit excessive, and by no means had she fooled herself into thinking he'd be able to eat even half, but it was quite literally doctor ordered. She'd paid extra attention to what the healers had told her before she'd brought Jonathan back to the cabin, and had took care to include some of the foods they'd said he would need to replenish the nutrients he'd lost after such hugh blood loss; hence the fruit and veg, eggs, and huge glass of milk which wobbled precariously no matter how careful she was.

Pausing at the door to her room, where she'd left Jonathan -- hopefully comfortably -- Ronnie shifted the weight of the tray a bit so that she could use one fist to knock quietly on the hard wood. She didn't want to wake him, if he were asleep, no matter how important it was for him to eat; it was important to sleep, too. Waiting a further second (she might have waited longer, if she wasn't worried that the tray might slip out of her hands), the brunette used one elbow to push the doorknob down and nudged the door open with her foot, peeping round the corner.

"Hey," voice quiet, the smile that pulled at her lips when she saw he wasn't dead to the world was gentle. She was careful as could be in bringing the tray in after her -- narrowly avoiding it hitting against the door, though the brief faltering of her smile was probably telling enough of the near disaster. "How're you feeling?" Likely a silly question, but it was all part of the niceties. Allowing the door to fall closed behind her with a soft thud, Ronnie stood rather unsure at the foot of the bed, "I made you some food -- you don't have to eat right now, if you don't want to, but... you should eat soon. Get your strength back up and all."

The days that passed were a blur and Jonathan was unconscious for most of them. Ronnie held true to her promise - she'd been there with him every single step of the way. It was no surprise when she offered to let him stay at her cabin after he got the okay to leave. A short debate followed, Jonathan initially refusing and assuring her that he was more than alright, but Ronnie insisted and come on, how can he really expect himself to refuse Ronnie.

The interior of the Apollo cabin deeply contrasted those of Aphrodite's. It did not smell of Chanel, which relieved him, and it wasn't as girly and frilly. The only downside was it practically glowed even on the inside, making it a little hard to sleep during the day. Jonathan managed though, sleeping through the whole morning, and probably right past lunch if the creak of the door opening didn't jolt him awake.

Eyes blinking a couple of times to adjust to the light, he found Ronnie by the doorway, a tray held carefully in her hands. All the healthy foods the medics said he should eat. He sat up so quickly his head hurt, but the smile on his face remained as wide as ever, growing as he glanced at the food she prepared.

"You didn't have to do that. But then I'm a bit excited to eat your cooking again," he croaked. "I'm doing real good now. Don't worry 'bout me."

He took in her appearance, smile faltering. With dark circles under her eyes, Ronnie looked like she hadn't gotten any proper rest since the whole thing happened. Concern flickered across his features. "Ronnie, you should get some sleep. I'll be fine. It's you I'm worried about."

veronica loric.
Gods, you could tell that she wasn't used to taking care of people. Her immediate thought when he sat up was to tell him lie right back down -- but the tray in her hands very quickly reminded her that he was supposed to sit up to eat. Well, weren't they two conflicting lines of thought.

"Don't give me that. You're not only a guest, but you're also in desperate need of someone to take care of you right now -- of course I'm gonna make you food," her smile was ever so slightly strained, his again ringing in her ears. Ever since he had turned up on the hill, she'd been wondering how much he remembered; most of all, though, she had been wondering if he knew how long he'd really been gone. On one of the many occassions he was out cold and she was able to speak freely to one of her siblings, she'd asked if she should mention it, or say nothing at all -- they'd told her to wait and see, lest the months lost weight heavy on his mind and cause him more stress. "You're going to be right as rain in no time," she hadn't felt so sure of a statement in a while -- not only was she going to do everything she could to take care of him, but she'd already been making sure that her siblings did too, "And then, I can stop worrying."

Moving across the room (unusually gracefully -- apparently, being a woman on a mission did wonders), she was far from hesitant as she sat down on the edge of the bed, tray turned to him. Since the hill, she'd been worried about him breaking. When she held his hand in the infirmary, she held it gently, when she pressed her lips to his forehead, it was softly. Unless he reached for it, she wasn't about to let him have to support the weight of an over-laden tray.

The words had barely left his mouth, and she was waving them away, giving a very definite shake of her head, and a soft, "Shhh." Yes, to put it simply, she was exhausted. Ronnie had barely let herself sleep while he was in the infirmary, worried that something might change while she was out. Then, when he was on the mend, she found herself too busy running around and making sure that everything was done for him and he didn't need to stress that all of a sudden, she had no time for anything other than a catnap. But it wasn't like she minded; in fact, it was far from. Ronnie didn't even think about how tired she was, but how glad she was, that he was back and doing better than he had been on the hill. The months he had been gone had been nerve-wracking enough to make her lose sleep anyway. "I'm fine, okay? I'll sleep later," unlikely, but unimportant, "Stop your worrying, and eat something. Please?"

He noticed all the little things. The golden hue her hair took under the sun's glow. The glimmer in her eyes when she spoke so excitedly. The pink tinge to her face when he told her how beautiful she looked, and in times when he let her know how happy she made him without even trying. The crinkle in her cheeks when she smiled wholly and without reservation.

Jonathan always noticed, even now that her smile lost the crinkle it used to have.

"With your cooking, I'll be good as new in no time at all," he assured her, offering a small smile. "Thanks, Ronron."

He frowned as she waved off the rest of his concerns, how she looked like she worked herself to hell and back. If the situation was reversed, he would be moving mountains for her too. The thought made him insanely relieved though, that it happened this way instead - it wasn't Ronnie who got mauled by whatever got him and the others, it wasn't Ronnie that was left to die on Half Blood Hill. She was safe as always, and nothing could have pleased him more. But that didn't mean he was going to ignore her condition - he vowed to make her get some proper sleep sooner or later.

Jonathan slid the sheets off him to avoid getting them stained - it was Ronnie's after all. Crossing his legs, he shifted a little and reached for the tray of food, carefully lowering it to his thighs and heaving a sigh of relief when not even a drop of milk spilled.

It was only now that he realized just how overladen the tray was. If it weren't for the single glass of milk and single pair of utensils he would have assumed that the food was for both of them. Occupying nearly half of the tray was a plate of creamy vegetable risotto - rice mixed with broccoli, carrots and others, and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Beside it lay a smaller plate of apple slices and a banana.

Wide-eyed, he turned to Ronnie. "This is for both of us, right? No never mind - wasn't a question. This is for both of us." He scooped up a spoonful of the risotto, fighting off a grin, and pointed it at her lips. "Say aaaah."
