Ethan Stark
| Winters were not the same in New York, even if it was Camp Half Blood. His heart went out to Ackley, Iowa, where he grew up. Ethan could remember winters where school seemed to always be canceled, because when it snowed, it really snowed. Instead of moving the snow his family would grab their sleds and spend all day out exploring the new wonderland. The demigod missed those days. He missed his family, but above all else he missed not knowing he was a child of Zeus. Life was so simple back then - he would give anything to have it back.

But he couldn't, and he was working on coming to terms with that.

Ethan couldn't make it home for Christmas this year - the plane ticket was too expensive. He understood, but wished his family would've tried a little harder to see him. Heck, he hadn't seen his dog, Jake, in years. Despite the intensity of his homesickness he knew there was one place in camp where he forgot he was so far away from home. The creek. It streamed out of the lake so peacefully, and was hidden by trees and hills. He always sought refuge here, where he couldn't hear camp. All he could hear was the creek.

The demigod always brought a notebook and pencil with him, as if he was actually going to sketch his surroundings. Ethan hadn't really done that since he was little, but he still brought the supplies, just in case. He found a rock clear of snow and sat on it, taking in the white surroundings. The creek wasn't frozen over - it was actually quite loud today. Closing his eyes, Ethan could hear it sliding over rocks and turning around the bend. This was home.

A sound suddenly ripped him from his peace. His starling blue eyes opened as he turned, searching for the noise's source. "Who's there?" It could've well been his imagination, but his gut argued otherwise.

Matthew Kyle Nash
Son of Morpheus

Matthew was in trouble.  Well no he wasn’t. His only problem was that he was cold. He was born and was raised at least until he was six, in the sunshine of Vineland, California.  This weather was Mother Nature, Demeter making the whole world regret Persephone ever deciding to eat fruit in the Underworld.  And all Matt had was a leather jacket, some Apollo kid decided to bestow upon him back when the “incident” happened.
He uses incident loosely to speak of that time when some kid lost sight of their magic and he went from a seven year old minding his business to this, a 15 year old who walks around in woods, bitterly remembering the better time where he was small enough for his sister, Zaria to still carry.  Zaria, now that she’s met that boy saw him when she saw him, preferring now instead of spending time in the Nyx cabin that was more like home than Hera’s, to spending time in Khione or Demeter’s with the boy and his best friend.
But this isn’t about her, it is about Matt and how the jacket is hardly thick enough to keep him warm in the weather and how icicles and snow cling to the trees.  He wonders if the nymphs (not hibernating) need jackets too and the image of a beautiful nymph with kindness in her eyes, in a big furry coat makes him smile.  ‘You used to have such an active imagination Matty’  Zaria once said, she did that thing where she reached out her hand to touch his cheek like she used to do and he remembers flinching away, no longer the innocent little kid, she brought with her to camp.
Matt, so in his feelings that he was didn't notice the branch, or the ice near the branch, but because of those two things he really notices the ground that suddenly he’s making impact with the ground and rolling.  His foot slipped on the ice, his body hit the branch, or log or whatever, and he can not stop the yelp that comes out of his mouth as he goes down.
It is moments like this where he truly is that little kid again, because like when “the incident” happened, he was in pain.

"Someone,"  He said. "Help me."

Ethan Stark
| The woods seemed to have been dipped in white from New York's most recent snow. Icicles dangled from branches and ice had replaced all the water there was in the forest, excluding the creek. The trails weren't entirely covered with snow, but it was enough for the weather to be obvious. Ethan's sweatshirt was thick and his winter jacket was warm, but he could still feel the chill on the tip of his nose. A wind whipped through the tops of the bare trees, but the demigod felt nothing more than a breeze.

His peaceful afternoon was interrupted with a startling cry, following the snap of a branch. At first Ethan didn't move, but then he heard the voice. The demigod sat himself up and looked around, seeing a figure a few yards away. Abandoning his notebook the demigod jogged off, nearly slipping on ice as he headed towards the other teenager.

Ethan found the other demigod at the bottom of a small hill, wearing a thin jacket. Taking a knee, the teenager asked, "Are you alright, dude?" It was quite obvious that while the boy displayed no obvious signs of damage, something was off. "You cold? I've got an extra jacket, if you want." He didn't have an extra jacket, but Ethan was more than willing to give up his own.

Matthew Kyle Nash
Son of Morpheus

So Matthew took quite the ungraceful tumble. Well considering any possible grace he could have had vanished when his body went from 3ft to almost 5 and half, it would almost make someone snort at how often Matthew found himself on his back, or face because he moved to quickly for his stretched body.  Of course even Matthew would have chuckled at his baby giraffe impression if he wasn’t in pain, eyes snapped shut.  His lips pressed together to stop anymore childish weakness from slipping through.
‘Pull it together, man.’  He told himself.  ‘Get it together.’  Clenching his teeth, and pushing the 7 year old back down to where he belonged, Matthew opened his eyes coming face to face with another boy.
He startles, okay?  He’s arguably half human and he is allowed to be shocked.  The boy who he is directly facing, isn’t unattractive and a small part of Matt, the one that’s still learning and discovering a much older world, flushes hard from facing him.  He asked if you were alright, a helpful voice in the back on Matt’s head said.  He’s offering his jacket and Matthew’s eyes widen and he’s shaking his head.  For all the crap he talked about his jacket, it's still his, well it’s still the Apollo boy’s and Matt said he would hold on to it even though it was a pity gift and…
Relax.  Deep breaths Matt, also you’re starring’ The voice says and Matt looks down and tries to shift to standing to show he’s alright and fails because his ankle is not feeling that.   Probably a sprain, the voice supplies helpfully and Matt refuses to groan.

Yeah I am fine.”  Matt says, going for a casual smile and ending up with a grimace, using a tree as a crutch he tries to pull himself up but alas he’s hurt.  Also keep your jacket man, I’m cool. Literally.Puns, of course he does a pun, Matt you're lame and he groans under his breath.  How much more of a dork can he get right now?  First the falling, than the starring, and then the falling, again, and now puns.   Really Matthew, you got to get it together.
