Alfred Paterson
| Alfie wasn’t a very romantic person. He didn’t know how to charm a girl with a few perfectly placed syllables. He didn’t know how to smile, or make a girl feel comfortable. But he knew that he liked girls. Apparently girls liked him too, or at least a few of the Aphrodite girls did. Or maybe they just found him funny. The demigod decided that it was probably both things, even though the latter was the more likely cause for them to take pity on him. After spending time with the goddess’s daughters Alfie found himself spiraling into an opportunity. Go on a blind date, they said. It would be so much fun, they said. What could possibly go wrong, they said. Alfie had a feeling he was about to find out.

He wasn’t nervous, though. The demigod didn’t get nervous for public outings. You see, Alfie isn’t afraid of embarrassing himself in front of people, he’s scared of getting attached to said people. Because the second you allow someone into your heart they can hurt you. Needless to say, the teenager wasn’t going into this adventure seeking his one true love; he just wanted to have a good time, which was what he was promised. One of his friend’s girlfriends, Lillian, was a daughter of Aphrodite, and she had told him not to worry about the logistics. She would take care of everything. All he had to do was meet the lady in the strawberry fields at seven thirty.

By the time seven rolled around Alfie was in cabin seventeen showering. A few minutes later he was dressed in a deep red button down and a nice pair of jeans. Halfway through attempting to calm his dramatic curls it was seven fifteen. Alfie abandoned his hairstyle and headed out, making a mental note to grab some flowers from cabin four before meeting this girl. He hoped she had a sense of humor, otherwise he’d be doomed.

The sky was bleeding by seven twenty five, as he stood near the entrance to the fields, about five daisies in his hand. Alfie could see soft light a few feet off, the source unknown. If he had to guess, he’d assume that Lillian had set them up a candlelit picnic, as supper was at seven thirty. Continuing to wait, he observed the flowers in his hands, hoping that the girl wasn’t going to be allergic to them, or him.

Sutton was not a fan of blind dates. She had been on two already because the Aphrodite campers practically begged her. She still didn't know why she said yes. The first person she went on a blind date with was a son of Hades named William. He had seemed charming at first, but it turned out that halfway through the date he was full of himself. She had abandoned the date a few minutes later after that without saying why. The second one had been a son of Demeter named Kenny. He had complimented her when she had first arrived and given her some roses, but after that he barely talked to her throughout the rest of the dinner date. She didn't particularly cared that it didn't go perfect like the daughters of Aphrodite had sworn it would. It wasn't like she actually wanted a boyfriend or something at the time.

Now, it was a year or two later after her last blind date and they said they found a perfect match for her. Sutton had rejected the offer at first, never wanting to go on a blind date ever again. She'd choose the next person she went on a date with. "We'll have everything planned." "You'll have the best time." They all said that repeatedly to her. It was until one of them threatened to use her charmspeak that she finally agreed to go. Sutton didn't actually know what to wear on the date considering she didn't want to be underdressed or overdressed. The daughters of Aphrodite had picked out an outfit for her which she slipped on after her shower. She wasn't very fond of it, but she surely didn't know the right way to dress. After attempting to control her curls, she decided to leave them alone if she didn't want to be late for her blind date. She didn't want to give off a bad impression.

Sutton began the long walk from cabin two to the strawberry fields.  At least, that was where she was supposed to meet her date. As she walked closer to the strawberry fields, she saw a boy around her age a few yards off holding flowers. She couldn't help but quicken her pace a bit with a smile on her face. Hopefully this blind date wouldn't end up like that last two. She stopped in front of the boy with a smile still on her face. "Hi. I'm Sutton, um daughter of Selene." She said she put out her hand for him to shake.

Alfred Paterson
| Alfie grew impatient as he stood there with the flowers. He could hear campers hustling off to the mess hall after training. Seeing them wasn't necessary; a dozen or so demigods moving were not difficult to hear. His mind drifted off to food for a second, wondering what was on the menu back in the hall. Pasta Wednesday? The teenager couldn't remember; he was just hungry. His train of thought slowly derailed as he glanced back at the lights radiating out of the strawberry plants. It had to be dinner, right? It seemed cliché and very Aphrodite-ish.

He rubbed his palms on his jeans as he waited, noticing a figure walking up the path towards the field. Alfie exhaled. The girl, he couldn't remember her name - had they even told him? - was breathtakingly beautiful. Out of all the demigoddesses he had dated, Alfie decided that this one (despite this being a singular date) was the prettiest. He did his best to smile as he stepped forward towards her. "Alfred, but you can call me Alfie," the demigod said, shaking her hand softly. He offered the daisies to her, the smile still painted on his face. "I uh - grabbed these for you," he added.

Alfie took another glance at her, she was seriously beautiful, and took a step in the direction of the light. "I think we're supposed to head this way," he suggested, offering his hand or arm out to her. He hadn't gone out on a date in a long time, was he supposed to be this formal? "Here, I can formally escort you; pick your limb," Alfie said, grinning wider. He had meant 'pick your limb' like 'pick your poison', but he wasn't sure if Sutton would catch it. "So do you have like, moon powers, because of your mom and all?" the teenager asked, casting a glance her way as they walked.

Sutton smiled as he introduced himself. He was handsome, and she was already excited for this date. Maybe it wouldn't actually end up like the last few blind dates. She accepted the flowers with another smile. "Thank you." She responded before looking at the light he talking about. It was a bit of a walk towards where the light was, but she didn't mind. With a small laugh, she interlaced her hand into his.

Sutton smiled as he asked about her powers. People always asked her that, but she didn't have fantastic powers like the children of Zeus. "I actually do. I can move moonlight beams to a certain place. I can also um see in the dark." She said as they continued walking. "How about you? Who's your godly parentage?" She asked before quickly adding on, "Unless you're unclaimed." She knew some people were a bit sensitive if they were unclaimed. She had experienced it herself for awhile and it almost made you feel like the forgotten child. She should know, considering her father had sent her to schools across the country. It didn't matter though, it simply made her the person was.

As they walked closer to the light, she could see what it was. It was a candlelit picnic which was great considering it wasn't too formal. "Have you ever been on a blind date before?" She asked to fill the silence. She didn't know what else to say considering her last date had been about a year ago. It didn't matter anyway because a few minutes later, they arrived to the picnic that was laid for them by the Aphrodite campers.

Alfred Paterson
| Alfie liked her smile. It was one of those smiles you remembered in the middle of the night when you couldn't sleep. That smile could end wars and cure cancer. He was relieved that Sutton took the flowers. Looking at them now, they were a little wilted and bruised, but she still took them. The teenager decided she must not hate him yet. "You're welcome," he replied quickly, smiling brightly. She laughed and his heart skipped when she grabbed his hand. Alfie hoped his palms weren't as sweaty as they were a few minutes ago. He lightly swung their entwined hands as they walked along the strawberry rows.

He wasn't sure if her next smile was one of excitement or amusement. Personally, his powers were nonexistent, so everyone else's seemed interesting. The idea that someone his age was able to heal others or move water still baffled him. "That's so cool," Alfie commented, genuinely interested. "So you can do that all the time?" he asked, looking up at the sky. The moon was behind clouds. As Sutton asked her question, he shrugged. "I can force people to laugh out loud," Alfie said, his face dead serious. He let his comment sit for a few seconds before he added, "Kidding. My mom's Thalia, she's the comedy queen."

As they neared the picnic, it became more obvious. Lillian had set a small chalkboard by the basket, which had 'For Sutton and Alfie' written on it with hearts. He chuckled at the cheesiness. Hearing Sutton ask something again, he pursed his lips. "I don't think so. Not recently, anyways." Now that he thought about it, there was one time when he first entered camp, but he didn't remember the girl's name. "Wanna sit, then?" Alfie asked, motioning to the checkered blanket with his free hand.

Sutton wasn't that special. At least her powers certainly weren't. Children of Zeus could cause storms in a snap of their fingers and children of Demeter could grow plants out of anywhere, all she could do was see in the dark. She had never really had to use her powers, she couldn't even think of a reason she would have to use her powers. But the way Alfie said it, it seemed like something she would be able to use all the time. She thought about it for a moment. "Umm, I suppose so. I mean I don't use them very much, and I can only use them for a short period of time." She responded. Sutton couldn't remember the last time she had ever used her powers, maybe a few months ago. When he told her his power, she couldn't help but say, "Oh. Well, that's different." A few seconds later, he told her he was kidding and she smiled. "I've never met a child of Thalia before." She commented.

Sutton was actually excited for this date. This date was already turning out better than the last two. Let's hope it stays like, She thought to herself as they neared the picnic. She saw the chalkboard with her and Alifie's name written on it and couldn't help but smile. She listened to his response to her question and nodded slightly. It seemed they were both a bit new at this which made it easier for her. "Sure." She said with another bright smile. She let go of Alfie's hand so she could sit down on the picnic blanket properly.

Sutton wasn't sure what to expect when she opened the picnic basket. She surely wouldn't be surprised if the Aphrodite children had managed to fit a whole restaurant in the picnic basket. When she opened the picnic basket, she saw all different kinds of food like sandwiches, water melon, potato salad, cupcakes, fruit salad, and a bunch of other food. This is way better than going to an actual restaurant. She searched around for a few minutes looking for the plates that were at the bottom. As she handed him a plate, she suggested, "Should we play twenty questions?" Sutton had heard people always played that on first dates, something the Aphrodite children had told her to do if she didn't know what to say. "I could go first." She added.

Alfred Paterson
| Alfie’s heart dropped when Sutton resumed the topic of her powers. He would do anything to be able to move moonbeams, no matter how uneventful that sounded. Nightvision? That would be awesome. When she spoke about it, the gift sounded so mundane and average. Wasn’t she proud of it? The demigod decided not to ask despite his growing curiosity. Sutton must not have understood his mock seriousness, as she seemed startled at the announcement of his ‘powers’. Alfie tried to suppress his laughter after he said he was kidding, but he couldn’t. “I’m sorry, I didn’t think you’d believe me.” Forcing someone to laugh, if possible, wouldn’t even be fun, he decided. The great thing about laughter was that it was hard to fake, and therefore always genuine. Laughter was honest, and few things could say that nowadays.

He nodded as she made the comment about his mother. Muses didn’t get around nearly as much as other gods or goddesses seemed to. There were dozens of Aphrodite children, at least twenty children of Apollo. But Thalia? To the best of his knowledge, there were no other children of the comedy muse. Then again, he hadn’t met a child of Selene before either. “I don’t think I’ve met a child of Selene either. She must keep to herself?” He left the question open, hoping she didn’t answer. Alfie hadn’t ever met his mother, and he didn’t really want to. Thalia might be ‘protecting’ him by keeping away, but it wasn’t fair. No one should have to grow up without two parents. His step mother, Alice, didn’t count.

Upon releasing Sutton’s hand he quickly wiped it on his jeans. His palms weren’t that sweaty, but he didn’t want to give them the chance to perspire. Alfie took a seat opposite her, far enough away from the candles to prevent fires (he’s kind of accident prone).  As she opened the basket he leaned forward, trying to catch a glimpse of what the matchmakers packed them. It wasn’t that he was picky (because he wasn’t), he was just curious. Alfie took a plate from her, relieved that Sutton had started to speak again. The few minutes of silence that had slipped between them was nerve racking. ”Sure, but could you pass me the sandwiches first?” he asked with a smile, only stalling. What kinds of questions was he supposed to ask?

Sutton rarely used her powers. They weren't useful to her considering there was no point in using them sometimes. The only reason she'd use her powers would be to find something in her room in the dark. Otherwise, she didn't use them at all. It was almost the equivalent of having no powers at all, at least to her it was. She glanced at Alfie long enough to see that something was wrong, but she didn't want to ask about it. Some people preferred to keep their problems to themselves. When Alfie started laughing at her, Sutton couldn't help but turn a bright red. Gods you're an idiot, She thought to herself. She didn't know what to say as a response so she kept quiet and looked on red-faced.

She had never met a child of Thalia before. It was rare that she even met a child of the Muses. In the Muses cabin there was only probably a few children. It was about the same for children of Selene; she didn't seem to have any half-siblings yet. Sutton knew most demi-titans joined Kronos' Army, and she was half-tempted to find out if there were more children of Selene. But the other half of her didn't want her to go back, memories of being captured still remained in her mind that she couldn't erase. She would've traded anything to get rid of those horrific memories of Kronos' Camp. "I suppose. I don't have any half-siblings as far as I know." She said before turning quiet again.

Sutton wasn't sure what to eat first, the Aphrodite children seemed to have packed everything. She looked over to see him leaning over to see what was inside. She gave him a bright smile before moving the picnic basket over for both of them to see what was inside. She started to unpack what was inside so either of them would be able to grab anything. "Oh sure." She said, handing him one of the neatly wrapped sandwiches. She didn't know what questions to ask without being too nosy and still get to know stuff about him. "I'll start off easy. What's your favorite animal?" She asked as laid everything neatly on the blanket.

ooc- sorry for a bit of a wait I haven't been feeling good :(

Alfred Paterson
| Alfie listened as she explained how she didn't know of any half siblings she might have. He nodded as she spoke. Some demigods were rarer than others, despite all of them being useful, some more than others. The teenager knew he wasn't really an asset to camp half blood. He wasn't overly strong, and he wasn't all that intelligent. But Alfie was good at making people laugh. It was a gift, yes, but how useful was that when fighting a war? Not very.  He glanced over at Sutton. Her face was bright crimson, but just as pretty as it had been moments before.

After taking a seat and scoping out his food choices, the demigod reclined, using his hands to keep him from falling backwards. The blanket was surprisingly soft and comfortable for being used in a picnic setting. Alfie was expecting a rougher, more plastic feeling fabric. But it wasn't, and he didn't mind.  He took the sandwich with a thank you, carefully unwrapping the neat plastic wrap. Only an Aphrodite camper could set up something so tidy. Alfie bit a small section off of the sandwich while Sutton asked her first question. He found out that the sandwiches were ham, turkey and cheddar.

He swallowed his bite before responding to her question. In all honesty he hadn't ever thought of his favorite animal; no one had asked him since elementary school. "Uh - a monkey maybe?" Alfie responded, shrugging his shoulders. "I guess I haven't really thought about it." The teenager took another bite, chewing and swallowing, before he thought of a question. "What's yours?" Wait, was that one of his questions? Did the game work like that? "Does that count for one of my questions?" he asked with a laugh. "Otherwise I was going to ask where you grew up."

The silence that passed between them seemed to be making things awkward. She didn't know what else to say, she didn't want to say anything stupid. So, she left it alone. It was better than her messing up again. They were almost to where the light was so it didn't matter. Sutton glanced at him before finally deciding to say, "Do you have any half-siblings?" She didn't know of any other children of Thalia, but it was rare she was ever in the Muses cabin.

Sutton looked at different foods she had put out. She started adding food to her plate as Alfie answered her question. She took a bite from a slice of watermelon while she thought about it. "Probably a leopard or a tiger." She said shrugging. She thought about it. Did it count? She had never played the game before, only hearing about it this morning. It seemed like he didn't know anything about the game either. "Um I'm not actually sure." She said with a laugh. "But I grew up in Italy for a while, but then I started moving around a lot." She responded before taking another bite from her slice of watermelon. She missed Italy. She could barely remember the last time she had visited. It seemed like so long ago. She missed her brother Max. She hadn't talked to him in awhile, but that didn't matter now. It was her turn to think of a question.

Sutton didn't really know what to ask. She could've asked something simple like his favorite color, but that wouldn't really do much. She kept eating as she thought about it. After a long pause she finally asked, "What's your favorite movie?" It wasn't that good of a question, but it was better than asking him his favorite color.

Alfred Paterson
| Neither of them spoke for a few seconds, but Alfie didn't try to make it go away. Normally he would've, but the idea of messing up this decent date was the last thing he wanted to do. He liked Sutton; she was different from other girls. He didn't know exactly how she was different, it wasn't a bad thing, in fact it was rather refreshing. Sitting upright as the girl began to speak, he shook his head. "Nope, just me," Alfie replied. While it was lonely being the only offspring of a certain goddess, he never needed to worry about living up to a preset standard. There would be no quest-chasing or monster-slaying for Alfie, just living. That was hard enough, sometimes.

He took more bites of the sandwich while Sutton replied to his series of questions. The bread wasn't your typical white variety, it was fancier. The meat had some other spices in it too, Alfie could tell (he ate a lot). "Big cats, huh?" the teenager asked with a grin, hoping he hadn't gotten any food in his teeth. He laughed along with her. It seemed like the pair of them were not well prepared with ice breakers. "Italy? Wow - can you speak Italian well?" Alfie asked, his curiosity spiking. He moved around a lot as a kid too, but it was in areas inside of the United States. He hadn't yet set foot on any foreign soil.

Continuing to eat while she thought of a question, Alfie continued to admire the beautiful girl in front of him. "I - uh - I like the Fast and Furious movies, like... all of them. Action and comedies are kind of my thing," he explained. Now it was his turn to ask something. He ran a hand through his curls before asking, "If you could eat lunch with any celebrity, who would you pick?"

Sutton nodded with a small laugh, her curls bouncing on her shoulders with the motion. "It's quite funny actually considering I have a wolf back in my cabin." She said with a smile. Just thinking of him made her miss him even more. She had gotten one of the children in the Hera cabin to look after because he was known to make a mess here and there. She was teaching him tricks and things to that nature, but sometimes he just didn't want to listen. She still loved him all the same. She finished off her slice of watermelon as she nodded her head again. "Yeah, I can. I learned Italian and English at the same time." She said thinking of Venice. "Have you ever been there? I could take you there sometime." She offered. Sutton wouldn't have minded showing him around. There was just one thing she certainly wouldn't show him, her father. She would show everything else to Alfie, just not him.

Sutton scooped up some pasta on her plate before putting it into her mouth. "Oh, I saw like one or two of those movies." She said after she swallowed. She had seen the first one, and she couldn't remember the other one she saw. From what she saw, she thought they were okay. She thought about his question before a certain author came to mind. "I mean he's not really much of a celebrity, but I suppose he was back then. But I'd want to meet Charles Dickens. He's one of my favorite authors." She said her face turning crimson again. As embarrassed as she was, she still loved the books he wrote and nothing would change that. She had read almost all of his book two to three time already. She still remembered when she picked up her first book by him.

Sutton looked up at the sky in thought. "Sorry." She apologized as tried to think of a question. What questions was she supposed to ask? She still didn't understand the game, but there wasn't much she could do now. She smiled as thought of a question. "If you could change one thing, absolutely anything, what would you change?" She asked as she scooped more pasta onto her silver fork.

Alfred Paterson
| Alfie's eyes widened as she mentioned she had a wolf back in her cabin. A wolf? Was it violent? "A wolf? Like the big, furry biter-of-faces kind of wolf?" he asked, taking a quick bite from his sandwich. The teenager didn't hate animals, he just wasn't an animal person. In fact, Alfred liked animals a lot, but they just didn't like him back. If he ever met Sutton's wolf friend he hoped it would like him. After swallowing his bite the boy smiled. "That sounds really cool. I wish I knew another language," he said with a chuckle. Alfie was being honest too. He had heard friends talk in different languages over the years, but he never had the chance (or the patience) to learn more than English.

He smiled at her kind offer, not knowing if she actually meant what she said. Alfie hadn't ever been out of the country, in fact he barely left camp most days. His family had been short on money and the idea of spending it? Unlikely. Food was more important than fun. "I've never been anywhere," Alfie admitted with a laugh. "Maybe, if I get money, we could go sometime," he suggested. The demigod continued to eat his sandwich until he was done with it. He grabbed a piece of watermelon after that, still listening to Sutton.

Alfie shrugged at Sutton's reply. He knew that Fast and Furious was certainly not everyone's favorite movie, but he liked the action and the cars. Mostly the cars. He began eating his slice of melon as she explained her celebrity. "I think I've heard of him. I don't think I've read anything by him, though," he admitted with another shrug. Alfie didn't get around to reading much anymore. He stared at her for a long moment as she blanked out. The teenager could see it - her mother, maybe. It was this kind of glow that seemed to illuminate her from the inside out. He couldn't help but think that this was the kind of girl made from stardust.

"I would have slept more?" Alfie burst. "No - uh - that's lame, I would give everyone a sense of humor. You know? Some people just don't know how to laugh. Life might be shit, but it doesn't last forever." He deadpanned as he realized his word choice. "Shi - I mean, sorry. It just slipped out."

Sutton laughed. "He's just a small pup, not to worry about anything. And I'm training him right now so I don't think he'll be biting off anyone's faces anytime soon." She said with a smile. She loved Mickey with all her heart ever since she had found him in the woods that one day. It was better than any other pet she had in the past. She didn't like cats; she thought there was no point in them. She hated birds, and fish didn't do much anyway. Some people throughout camp had machine pets, which sound it bit weird. Mickey was the perfect pet to her. After she finished off her pasta, she said, "I would love to learn another language. There's not much point in Italian, not that many people know the language." She shrugged before grabbing a neatly wrapped sandwich.

As she unwrapped the sandwich, she listened to him. She couldn't remember all the places she had been, but it was a lot. "Oh well you wouldn't have to worry about the money." She said as she scrunched up her nose. "My dad is an actor so he has a lot of money. You wouldn't have to worry about anything. We might as well visit the rest of Europe while we're there. It could be like a summer vacation almost." She said excitedly. Sutton wasn't sure if her father would care, but she sure as hell didn't. It didn't matter to her anyway, it was something he owed her. And if he did care, he'd simply have her to deal with.

Sutton took a small bite from the sandwich. "Not many people know him. Mostly the Athena children." She said shrugging. It didn't change her mind though. She would've loved to meet him. She wouldn't be sure what to ask, she'd be in too much shock to ask him anything. She took another bite from the sandwich while listening to Alfie speak. "It's okay. I don't mind. It's not like I haven't heard it before, but yeah I know what you mean." She said looking down sadly.

Alfred Paterson
| Alfie laughed along with Sutton as she explained the minimal threat that was her wolf pup. "There goes my masculinity," he groaned, continuing to laugh at his own stupidity. Of course she didn't have a violent animal living in cabin two, that would be crazy. "What's his name?" the teenager asked, finishing off his watermelon slice. Alfie never had a pet when he was growing up. It was always moving from one place to another, or trying to fit into a new school. At least he was never bored. Nodding in agreement with Sutton, he asked, "What other languages do you want to learn?"

He didn't understand having a large sum of money. How could he? Alfie's childhood was spent on a minimal amount of cash. The school always supplied more food than his father did. Then again, the teenager's life changed when Alice became his step mother. Life perked up after that, but he was still a penny pincher. "Just like that?" he mused, tilting his head to one side. The way Sutton spoke about her father made him seem like one of those wealthy, money buys everything types. While Alfie assumed that would be an awful way to grow up, the idea of not worrying about meals was appealing. "Yeah, that'd be, that'd be awesome." Alfie wasn't sure of how to word his thanks. While the idea hadn't even taken place yet, the very thought of it was amazing.

Alfie felt bad for swearing. He could practically feel the mood drop after he said it. Rubbing the back of his neck, the demigod muttered, "Uh - have you heard the joke about the construction workers?" He let it sit for a moment before continuing. "Just kidding, I'm still working on it," the teenager said with a cheesy grin. A loose laugh escaped his lips as he rubbed the back of his neck again. "Gods, I'm lame," Alfie whispered, reaching for one of the sugar cookies in the basket. To do so though, he needed to scoot a little closer to Sutton. He hoped she didn't mind. "So, have you seen a lot of Europe? Or just Italy?"

Sutton smiled at him. "His name is Mickey. I found him not that long ago." She said instantly remembering it. She had just been jogging in the woods when she stumbled upon him. He was hurt, she couldn't remember what had happened, but she had instantly taken him to Chiron. He had let her keep him. She didn't know what to do with him first; she had never had a proper pet before. Someone from the Aphrodite cabin had surprisingly helped her, and now, he seemed to trail after her everywhere she went. He was great companion to have. "I'd love to learn French. I'd also probably want to learn Spanish... maybe Latin." She said as she thought about it.

Sutton hated her dad, hated was even an understatement. That's why she had changed her last name, so no one would know the difference between them. Sure they looked alike, but she always lied and said it must be a coincidence. How much she wished it was just a coincidence. Her step-mother didn't seem to help either. The two of them always seemed to be yelling at each other when she visited. "Well, there's the problem that I'm a demi-titan. Monsters always seem to be everywhere, but other than that sure." She said with another bright smile. She wouldn't know what to show him and what not to show him. Almost everything seemed important to her.

Sutton looked up as Alfie start talking again. A small laugh escaped her lips before she could stop it. "Do you just think of jokes that easily?" She asked out of nowhere. She didn't understand how people thought of joke easily. It was rare that she could even make a joke. She watched as he scooted a bit closer. She grabbed a cupcake with pink frosting on it from the basket."I've seen most of Europe. Not all of it though." She said. She took a small bite from the cupcake, getting pink frosting on her nose.
