Tessa Traverse
| Tessa hadn't meant to sleep through the morning's training session. Okay, maybe she had, but that didn't mean she deserved another guard duty session, right? That was overkill, in her mind. But to her superiors it wasn't, which meant that she would be serving two guard duties in one day. She wasn't looking forward to it. She was bundled up in her coat and hat, armor hidden under her winter clothing. A thick pair of gloves protected her hands as she gripped her spear, looking out at the camp as she waited for her second partner. The first session hadn't been bad, because she was paired with her boyfriend, Jared. But then he had to go back to the infirmary and she was left with cold air and silence.

Her breath came out in white puffs as she breathed, waiting impatiently for the next demigod to come for duty. The cold didn't really bother her, just the fact that she was stuck with two shifts. Two four hour shifts. The thought made her blood boil. After all, the punishment didn't even make sense. If she had missed a training session, why did they stick her on guard duty? Where she would have to guard camp from dangerous monsters? Jared had gotten her full rant about the situation. It was about four, and the sun was still high in the sky, but Tessa knew it would set soon enough. She had flashlights for when that happened, but she wasn't looking forward to the next four hours.

Hearing something move, she turned around to face her new partner. "Took you long enough," Tessa commented with a frown, adjusting her grip on her weapon.

Eleni Lysandra Seres

Eleni found herself sprinting up the hill, trying to tighten her armor as she did. In her other hand she was balancing a two drink carrier from the festival. In it were two steamy hot chocolates with whipped cream and marshmallows. She was late, very unusual for the mostly prompt daughter of Zeus. Upon reaching the top of the hill, her partner came into view. The girl wore an angry expression, but Eleni didn't mind. She knew she was late. Breathing heavily, she smiled up at her partner.

"Sorry I'm late! I'm honestly never like this. I was just so caught up, and then I decided..." She began to ramble excitedly, her eyes softening as she cut herself off. She had a habit of doing that a lot, rambling. She realized she was probably annoying for some of her campers. Eleni was just sunshine and rainbows, all of the time. Or at least she tried to be. It was just in her personality, in the way she was raised.

Setting down the drink carrier on the grass, she adjusted her bow and quiver slung across her back. "Eleni," she simply stated, stretching a gloved hand towards the girl for a handshake. Her voice was soft, and Eleni was doing her best to smile as big as possible. Impressions were important, her mother always said. Mother...

Clearing the thought from her head, she pulled her hair into a ponytail and leaned towards the drink carrier. "I'm late because of this," she remarked, handing a cup to the girl. "Hot chocolate. Figured we would need it. It's pretty freaking cold, even for New York." Her lips pulled up into a small smile once again, hoping that this would make up for her tardiness. It wasn't a great excuse, but she thought it might help their four hour shift seem a bit more pleasant.

Tessa Traverse
| Tessa had been on guard duty for a while. Usually she'd be out here about three times in a two week's span, just because of all her trouble making. Normally she wouldn't mind it either, because she didn't really have anything better to do at camp, and the work was easy. She had yet to see a monster while on duty. But tonight she felt like something was watching her. Maybe it was the way the light reflected off of something, but maybe it wasn't. She could feel herself becoming paranoid, but the teenager ignored it as she heard something coming up the hill.

It was her partner, a girl she hadn't ever met before. Tessa didn't know a lot of people, but she knew that the demigod in front of her was unknown to her. However, the scent that came with the girl, of hot chocolate, was very familiar to the teenager. In that second, she decided to forgive the other demigod. When she introduced herself, Tessa gave her a weak smile. "Tessa," she replied simply, her eyes focusing more on the hot chocolate. Most people wouldn't be so considerate to bring something, so she was thankful for the girl's company.

She shook Eleni's hand with her gloved one, giving her a small nod as well. Tessa gratefully accepted the steaming cup, forgetting that she hadn't eaten since the beginning of the day. She cast a glance out into the thick woods, her paranoia returning. It was nothing. Right? "Yeah, no kidding," she replied, sipping some of the warm liquid.

Eleni seemed very cheery, which contrasted Tessa's normally pessimistic nature. "Are you from New York?" she asked, hoping to get a conversation going. She wasn't great with small talk, but they were going to be spending four hours with each other. Shifting her weight from one foot to another, she glanced back out into the misty winter, scanning the perimeter for those eyes she could've sworn she saw.
