Tobias Kelly
Tobias wasn't a very loyal person, he hadn't ever been. Children of Hermes always seemed to be changing alliances, playing pranks, and well... making trouble. This demigod would prove no different. His definition of love was loose, and something that he felt uncomfortable in speaking aloud, like it would come back and haunt him. The sad truth? Like several other things, Tobias Kelly is terrified of love. Not scared, but terrified. Mortified, if you will. His inconsistency in girlfriends was simple reflection of that, and could be seen as he spoke to his newest interest, Danielle from cabin sixteen.

She had icy blonde hair tied in a short ponytail, with strands of her hair near her ears. The girl in front of Tobias reminded him of Emily, only more average. Danielle was telling him about volleyball at her old school in Maine, and how she was one of the best on the team. In truth, he was only half listening as he compared the two girls. Danielle's eyes weren't nearly as interesting as Emily's, for the daughter of ice had dark eyes, like that of coffee. Personally, he never liked the substance, it tastes strange. Energy drinks were better for him, at least when he needed them. Normally he was a ball of enegery either way.

None the less, Danielle was athletic, and her cold gaze left him wanting to know more about her. "So volleyball, is that like your main thing? No time for say... guys?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at the girl. She laughed and replied that she would always make time for people like him. Grinning, he laughed along with her, hoping he could make his move soon. Danielle seemed to be flirting, and yes he would know. After going through so many failed relationships, he started knowing things like that. "Later then, you'd be up to like... canoeing or something?" he asked, a bright gleam in his eyes. The girl came in close to reply, whispering her answer in his ear as his face broke into a wider than previously.

Emily finished her breakfast, ready to go to the lake. She was planning on drawing the beautiful lake in her sketchbook. She never had time now to do what she wanted. Decorating the cabin, going to cabin leader meetings. She was always busy.

Emily walked out of the Mess Hall, smiling. She talked to a few friends on the way to the lake. She didn't say much to them, just a few words and then she'd leave. She was determined to finish the drawing, or at least start it. When she got to the lake, she realized it was a tad full. There were some people in the lake canoeing or going for swim. She didn't mind them being there as long as they didn't make too much noise. Emily took out her drawing pad and outlined the lake with a pencil.

Emily was practically finished with her drawing until she heard two people talking very loud, disturbing her. She looked up and noticed a blonde hair boy and girl. She recognized the boy as Tobias and grinned. She remembered their kid a few days ago. She had been waiting for that kiss since the first day they had met. Then the thought registered into her mind. Who is that girl?, She thought to herself. She guessed they were probably friends until he asked the girl if they would want to go canoeing later. Don't fret, they're probably just going to hang out as friends, She kept repeating to herself over and over again. As she was about to go back to her drawing, she saw the girl whisper into his ear.

Emily felt an odd feeling inside her. Her heart shattered into a million pieces like glass. She had never felt the feeling before considering she had never liked someone as much as she liked Tobias. Emily left her things on the ground and stood up. She walked over to the two teens and tapped Tobias on the shoulder. "So this is what you've been doing?"She said before lifting her hand and smacking him across the face. When she brought her hand back to her side, there was stinging feeling in her hand. Right now, it didn't bother her because she wasn't really paying attention to it. "I see I'm not that important to you anymore. I'm not even sure if I ever even mattered to you." She said her eyes welling up with tears.

Tobias Kelly
Tobias smiled, casting his gaze past the girl and onto the lake, as it glistened in the sunlight. For a second, it reminded him of Danielle's icy hair, but then it reminded him of Emily's blue eyes. Thinking about the daughter of Zeus made his grin fade slowly as he turned to face the other girl. She was just smiling, but then looked over her shoulder, and her face contorted into a frown. Following her gaze, the boy found himself face to face with an angry Emily. His heart stopped in that second as a few scenarios popped into his head, none of them good. He could be electrocuted, maimed, cussed out, or utterly humiliated, each idea wasn't optimal.

The pain from Emily's slap registered before he could think of something to say in reply to her question. He hadn't thought that just talking to the girl would trigger an instant reaction. Rubbing the side of his stinging face, he glared at Emily, watching the retreating form of the Khione girl, who had make a quick excuse to leave. His eyes then flicked back to the crying girl, which made his insides twist. She was upset, because of him. Most guys would try and instantly fix things, but Tobias wasn't going to. No, he had gotten slapped for talking to someone, not kissing them, speaking to them. The demigod hadn't been a fan of jealous girls, even if he could be jealous from time to time himself.

"First, ouch," he muttered, raising both of his eyebrows as he removed his hand from his face, the red mark still evident from her hand. Tobias straightened his shoulders, as if he could display his dominance over the crying girl. A part of him wanted to scream at her, telling her that she was insane for yelling at him. The other part wanted to hold her and tell her he wouldn't ever leave her. But, the demigod knew that he would leave her, it was in his nature. "Second, what the hell?" he said, louder this time, as he motioned to the fleeing form of Danielle. "I can't talk to girls, can I? Gods," Tobias spat, anger burning in his eyes.

Emily watched the girl quickly run away. She was glad that she ran away before Emily could hurt her also. Then she realized, it wasn't really the girl's fault. She had just assumed that he was single and would love to go on a date with him. Even though he wasn't single.

She was glad when he said it hurt. Emily still had some anger inside of her that she was willing to take out on him. She could already feel the electricity dancing along her fingertips. She had never felt this angry since her father's death. The memory just seemed to fuel her anger, making her furious. Her usually blue turned to do a dark green.

Emily could see her hand leave a red mark. She almost laughed. A comical laugh, because she found it quite funny actually. She never thought that she would ever get this angry ever again, but she had proved herself wrong. Luckily this time, she couldn't throw anything. There was nothing she could throw except her sketchbook at Tobias, but she didn't want to ruin her drawing that she had just started and was about to finish. However, she did want to get rid of it. Throw it in the lake, rip into pieces, set it one fire to get rid of this day. She didn't want to remember the day she almost electrocuted someone.

"Gods, Tobias. You don't get it do you?" She said, laughing. The tears were already streaming down her cheeks, but she didn't bother to wipe them away. She wanted to keep them there. Emily walked over to her stuff and collected them. She slung her bag over her shoulder and walked back to Tobias. "You ask a girl on a date, to go canoeing. That's totally normal right?" She said sarcastically. "Then she whispers into your ear. You guys are totally just friends." Emily rolled her eyes, anger still boiling in her blood. "I hope you have fun on whatever the hell you guys are doing."

Tobias Kelly
Tobias' frown was evident as he glared at her, hoping that she could feel his disapproval radiating off of him, and maybe she'd understand. Most people didn't understand why the demigod had such short relationships, such issues with females. Really, he didn't have any problem, he just couldn't stay committed to a single girl. He felt obligated to give every female he could a little bit of the great thing that was Tobias Kelly. At least, that's what he told himself. Personally, he was afraid of being attached to someone, afraid of needing someone. Even if he was a coward, he wanted to be an independent coward.

He noticed the anger in her eyes, which made him uncomfortable. Maybe he made a mistake in picking this particular demigoddess. She could easily kill him, and probably wouldn't regret it either. If there was one thing he knew about girls was that they tended to get very violent when angered. However, the tears streaming down her face also confused him. Okay, so maybe he didn't get girls. Tobias figured that she noticed he wasn't exactly pleased with her either. At her rhetorical question, he merely raised an eyebrow, waiting for an answer.

His brown eyes watched her leave and come back, but he personally wished she would've just left. Sad girls were safer than angry girls; and right now he couldn't tell which Emily was right now. Her blue eyes were dripping diamonds, but also blazed with anger. The girl's sarcasm made the boy glare harder, his eyebrows drawing together. "It wasn't a date!" Tobias snapped irritably. "I was talking to her, so what if she was flirting?" He asked, grabbing her shoulders, his face nearing her's."You can't do anything on a canoe, except maybe drown, Emily." the demigod whispered, his tone dangerous.

Letting go of her, Tobias wiped his hands on his pants leg, then ran a hand through his hair. Placing both of his hands on his head, he groaned, turning away from her to look only at the lake. It seemed to be the most stable part of the situation. "You should've known what you signed up for," he reasoned, shaking his head slowly. No one went to him for a stable relationship. Tobias figured that was a well known fact, but apparently not.

Emily could think of a million ways to hurt him. They just seemed to bounce around in her mind. She tried to hold back. She didn't want to hurt him. If she did, Chiron would probably find out and she'd be fired form cabin leader. There weren't that many Zeus kids anyway, so she couldn't really be fired.

Emily noticed how uncomfortable he got. She almost grinned at how intimidating she could seem even when she wasn't. She was just a small blonde girl. She did know a few things that could hurt you, but rarely ever used them. She did know how to box and she also had her powers. It was quite funny actually how Emily looked so frail on the outside like she could never hurt a fly. When in the inside, she'd hurt you in a minute if she wanted. If she wanted. That was rarely though. She managed to get her stubbornness under control. She didn't have that many friends anyway and rarely did anyone get her angry. Lately.

The girl rolled her eyes at him. She looked down at her feet avoiding his gaze. She didn't want to look in his chocolate brown eyes that she used to stare at happily. She laughed when he said you couldn't do much on a canoe. She could think of a million things you could do on a canoe. When he grabbed her shoulder, her eyes blazed anger. "Don't touch me." She hissed. Emily pushed his hands off her shoulders. She could reel the electricity move from her fingertips to him. She wasn't sorry for it. She didn't like it when people touched her, especially now.

Emily watched as he looked at the lake. One part of her wanted to comfort him while the other half wanted to push him in the lake and drown him. She would've drowned him, but water wasn't really her territory to venture in. She clenched her fists as he talked. "It's my fault?" She asked, disbelief coloring her voice. "You're the one that kissed me!" She yelled at him. She grasped for more things to throw at him. "Y-you're the one that pushed me out of the way from the hellhound at the New Year's Eve attack. I c-could've fought it off myself or just died." She stuttered. When Emily finished talking, her hand went instantly to her mouth, covering it. She couldn't believe what she said. Emily was of course grateful that he saved her, but she was still mad at him. She looked around for a moment, realizing that people were staring at the. She gritted her teeth and crossed her arms. She looked down at her feet, trying to avoid Tobias' and the spectators' gazes.

Tobias Kelly
He smirked as she got angry from him touching her. Then again, it wasn't exactly an innocent touch, it had been more of a forceful grab. He knew she wasn't hurt, but the angry glare in her eyes was amusing. However, he found the shock that passed through his nerves less amusing. "Ouch." His tone stated his annoyance towards the blonde, as he shook his hands at his sides. Tobias could feel each nerve going numb from the unwanted electricity. "Was that really necessary?" the demigod sneered.

Tobias knew that passer's by were stopping to take a look at the drama that was about to unfold. The thought of becoming the next topic of discussion in the Aphrodite table made his skin itch, but he tired ignoring the sight of them as he glared at the lake. It's color was distracting, and quite frankly it bothered him, as it reminded him of Emily. He was also bothered by how a small framed girl could make him so unnerved, just by the presence of her. The daughter of Zeus may not be tall, but she was powerful, and he knew that. Maybe it was the fear of getting electrocuted, or the fear of being embarrassed. Then again, he was already nervous at the crowd that was growing along the shoreline.

Her yells caught the attention of the people, who Tobias wished he could shoo away. The last thing he wanted was a public argument with a daughter of Zeus. Emily's comments seemed to brush off of his back like water, and he didn't care much for them. Once she was done, he spun back on his heel to face her again. A knowing smirk was on his lips as he walked closer to her, calmly this time. "Steel, honey," he began, placing a hand under her chin and tilting it upwards to look at him again. "If you can't look at me, I know you're lying." Tobias muttered, his smirk growing. The demigod quickly moved his hand soon after, not wanting to be shocked again. "And yeah - I did kiss you. You know why?" He paused, and glanced off into space, as if in thought. "Oh, right, because I like kissing, and you're a damn good kisser. So, we both enjoyed it, and don't say otherwise."

The arrogance dripping from his voice rivaled that of most Ares kids, and was only from a sudden burst of confidence. The boy was positive in his ability to get under someone's skin, and to dig out the raw feelings. Either that, or he knew what made Emily tick. He walked around her in a half circle, stopping at the point he did in the capture the flag game, so he was parallel to her shoulder, and could whisper in her ear. "I know you liked it, didn't you? You wouldn't have stayed if you hadn't." Tobias retreated, walking backwards slowly. "But hey, that's fine with me, I have the ability to get other girls, I mean, Danielle's probably a good kisser too." He smirked, tilting his head a little to the left. Maybe he was asking for death, but he didn't care. Tobias had to prove he was right.

Emily grinned when he shook his hands at his sides. She found it quite amusing. "Yes it was necessary." The demigod said with her arms crossed and both of her eyebrows raised. She was glad that she had hurt him. She had never done it before. However, the more she thought about it she realized it was just a light shock. It couldn't have really done much.

Emily watched the people gather near them She knew a few of them here and there, a few whom she had talked to on the way here. She noticed a few Aphrodite kids that she knew. She remembered pranking them over the years while she was at camp. Eventually, they had become friends. They were a bit airheaded at times, but they were still great friends. She realized that they would come by later to her cabin later to ask why she had been fighting with that cute boy. She sighed and silently scolded herself for yelling so loudly.

When Tobias called her by her nickname, Steel, it had been like a slap to the face. She remembered why he called her that on that night in the shed.  He had said it reminded her of her eyes and her necklace that contained her weapon. She wished she could've burned that shed because they had spent almost the entire night together in that shed.

When he touched her, she mustered as much electricity as she could to send through him. He moved his hand from her chin before she could touch him. She cursed under her breath. Emily looked up from her feet to his face. She didn't where she found the courage to do it, but she did. She had stared at him only once during this fight so far only when she went to slap him. The thought came to her. She had caused all of this. Emily had caused all of this awhile ago when she went to the New Year's Eve party on the beach. She could've just not have gone and none of this would've happened. It was too late now.

Emily's face instantly tuned red when he said she was a good kisser. She had always thought she was a bad kisser, but shoved the thoughts to the side. She didn't need to think of useless thoughts right now. He was right though. She did enjoy it because at the time she though he might've liked her. Now she knew for sure that the answer was no. He could've hated her with all of his life and she wouldn't have known.

"If you wanted to kiss someone, why didn't you kiss an Aphrodite girl? They would've surely fallen for you." She said, crossing her arms.

Emily realized that he was trying to annoy her, get her angry. Well, he was doing a hell of a job of it, but he shouldn't have because she could summon lightning from the sky to electrocute him. She clenched her fist, her nails digging into her palms, to keep herself form doing anything stupid. "What was so special about me then? Why mess with me? Because I assure you, you will regret it." She said warning him. Emily couldn't figure out what was so special about her. Why not kiss a daughter of Aphrodite? Thy had been kissed millions of time, so they would definitely be a better kisser then her. She was just a daughter of Zeus.

Tobias Kelly
Tobias scoffed as she responded that his shocking was necessary. He hadn't done anything worthy of getting zapped with electricity. So maybe he had flirted a little bit, but Danielle was cute, and he hadn't thought that Emily was around. Call him unfaithful, but that was how he was. Impulsive, afraid that if he hesitated, a chance would be lost with no chance for it to be returned. He wasn't impulsive when it came to love, and while he could be suave, he was always hesitant to agree to love. What was love, if not a contract? Tobias Kelly didn't make deals he knew he couldn't keep.

He watched as the realization of her nickname hit her like a ton of bricks. A smirk grew across his face as he remembered the night that they saved each other's lives. The shed had been small, safe, and secluded, but also let enough light in to show him that Emily Thomas was someone special. She was someone that you trusted, cared for, and wanted. Did he want her? Gods yes. But he knew that he would only hurt her, and maybe this was his sick way of telling her that.

The red across her face proved his point; she had enjoyed kissing him. Of course, Tobias already knew that, but seeing it written across her face just proved his point all the more. "Because I've already done that," he answered with a laugh. It was true, he had a fair bit of experience with cabin ten under his belt. He had a 'fling' with three of the girls. A redheaded Abigail, a forceful Brooke, and an innocent Lacey Lou were all victims of the Tobias Kelly syndrome. While he may be annoyingly honest, it often came off as  rude remarks that were frowned upon. None the less, those remarks always seemed to slip out of his constantly smirking lips.

Tobias noted the tension in her face, like she was debating whether to kill him or smite him. He preferred none of the above, but anything was possible when it came to Emily. "Besides, they get old after a while, too similar," he added passively, shrugging and glancing past the girl to look at the small crowd. People were walking past, but definitely tuning in to their conversation.

Her question took him a moment to process. Why Emily Thomas? Why this determined, brave, daughter of Zeus? Honestly, he had yet to figure that out. She was a mystery to him, something new and addicting and he loved it. Still, he couldn't keep her. The temptation to leave was just too great, and his fear of getting attached was too high. "I don't know." Tobias' answer was dumb, and under thought, but he didn't know. He didn't understand her."I just - look it doesn't matter if we're over, does it?" he asked, crossing his arms as if to mimic her. His eyebrows were raised at the question, as if they already knew the answer.

Emily laughed as he scoffed. He had deserved it. Her slap hadn't done much effect, so she had simply shocked him. She didn't think it would hurt that much. But to come to think of it, she didn't even think of shocking him until the electricity left her fingertips. She had never done it before and it was surely an odd feeling.

As thought had appeared in Emily's brain. What if she did tell the girl that she was dating him? Well, had been dating him. The girl had simply looked like herself, which was kind of scary. She wasn't a daughter of Zeus considering she hadn't seen her in the Zeus cabin. It gave her the shivers that the girl had same blonde hair, the same height, almost the same weight. She didn't get it. Why did he like her more than Emily? They were basically the same person except for a few differences. She shook the thought off. You're different than her. Probably, She thought to herself.

The red disappeared form her face when he said he had dated the Aphrodite girls. She raised her eyebrows as he laughed. She didn't find it funny at all. How could she have not hear anything about him? No warnings, nothing. Maybe he was just aiming to date everyone in camp. He was charming and handsome, but eventually someone would turn him down. Emily was just too stupid to do that. It was too late anyway.

She did agree with him. All the Aphrodite girls were the same, They all the bubbly and girly personality their mother had. She always hated them for being stupid, pretty, and lovey dovey. However, Emily wasn't going to agree with him. "I don't know. Some of them are different then the usual." She responded, staring at her feet again. She didn't want to look at him. She preferred talking to him while looking at her feet so she could avoid his glares and the spectators' gazes. They slowly accumulated near the shore of the lake to listen in on their little conversation. She wished she could've just shocked them. And for once, she wished she was a daughter of Poseidon just to drown them all. She didn't want people to listen on her private conversations.

Emily looked up from her feet to his face when he paused. He hadn't paused once during their entire conversation like he had planned it all out before. Then she felt the question reflected back to her. What did she like about Tobias? He was charming and was obviously adorable at times. She pushed the thoughts away. She didn't need to think of them now, he hadn't asked her the question. She had asked him the question. She raised both of her eyebrows at his answer. "I just- tell me one thing." She said, like him. "Then I'll leave you alone for however long you'd like; days, weeks, months, years, whatever. Why me? Seriously, that girl, Danielle, was pretty much an exact replica of me." She said shrugging.
