Do you know what sucks for people who don't have something to defend themselves with? A fight to the death. Caleb hadn't been in camp for that long, and apparently this attack put them at like DEFCON 1. His chances of survival were not high. Especially since he didn't have a sword. Without a way to fight, the son of Athena was dependent on flight until further notice. His Pegasus really helped with that. However, his flying horse, Ebony, didn't respond well to his "touch". The reality was the demigod had never been on a horse before. If the majestic animal wanted him dead, it would've done it a long time ago. That didn't stop it from crash landing. Caleb tumbled around on the soft dirt for a few seconds, before landing against the coliseum wall. He swore under his breath, still careful not to attract attention. "I need a weapon." He muttered to himself.

He flung open the door to the weapons closet. He was hopeful there would be something worth using in there, but he was wrong. Apparently after the attack started anything worth taking was robbed from the storage room. "No... no. no, no, no. NO!" He almost yelled placing his hand against the wall. His forehead followed, and made contact with the hard wall.  "This isn't happening. This isn't happening to me." he repeated trying to convince himself of the fact. It was no use.  If Caleb stood a chance at surviving, he either needed to get out of dodge and come back when things settled down, or find a group of people. But who would take in a newbie without a weapon?

He flipped over the tables and stands in the room hoping that something would spill off of them. Nothing. The only things in there was a whip, and small dulled training dagger, a rope, a war axe three times his size, and a few protein bars. He was screwed. He took the whip, and tied the dagger around the end of it, hoping that it would at least help. The demigod took the protien bars, and the rope and fastened them to his saddle. He had hoped the pegasus would let him leave, but it was intent on stay put. He swore once more before deciding to try to use the axe as a means of keeping the gates shut. Right before he shut the gates he noticed a figure in the distance. He wasn't sure if it was friendly or an monster, but he wasn't going to shut out a fellow camper.  So he held the door open with his left hand, his make shift knife whip thing in his right, and he prayed to every god he knew that whatever was coming his way didn't want him dead.

livin' in the ruins of the palace within my dreams
and you know we're on each other's team

Fern slipped on her leather jacket. It was rather chilly outside, but she couldn't care less. It numbed all the feeling inside of her, mostly hatred. She was going to the arena to practice, she hadn't practiced in awhile. She was fine with her dagger, but she thought it would be better if she learned other weapons to use. Her dagger wouldn't always be with her. She sighed and walked out of the Hera cabin.

Fern was right. It was cold, but it was the Hew York that she loved. She smiled. She appeared at the arena a few moments later. It wasn't that busy, and it wasn't that full. The shack of weapons for people to borrow was a few feet away. Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw a boy about her age looing for weapon. She couldn't help but smile maliciously. Easy bait. She didn't know exactly what she wanted from him, most likely just to toy with his feeling leaving him vulnerable. Fern walked up to the weapon's shack for borrowed weapons and grabbed a few throwing knives. She watched the boy getting frustrated. She restrained herself from laughing. Fern flicked the throwing knife, hitting the target in in the heart. She flicked another, hitting it in the middle of the forehead. She sighed. This is so boring, She thought to herself. Her eyes flicked at the boy. She gasped. How the hell does he have an axe? She wanted that axe. She didn't have one and needed it. She looked back at the throwing knives. She could trade it and toy with him later. he could hear her father's voice in her ear. Don't do it. It sent a shiver down her spine. "He's dead." She muttered under her breath. She turned her mind back to the axe. She put on a fake dazzling smile and walked up to the boy.

When she saw the whip in his hand, she smiled even wider. "Oh it's you! I was wondering who it was. You could put that whip away. I don't hurt." She said her voice sounding like she wouldn't hurt you at all. She batted her eyelashes."I don't hurt." She repeated, smiling a wide, dazzling smile. Damn, was Fern a good actress.

Caleb looked up from his work at the door at the sound of another voice. "That's really good to know. You know with the invasion going on and all..." he said his voice trailing off. He secured the door handles to the arena shut, using the handle of the ax. The last thing he wanted was a monster walking in on them. He didn't drop the whip though. It didn't seem smart to go totally defenseless. He watched her bat her lashes at him, which kinda caused him to smile. He didn't think he was unbelievable good looking, but this girl was flirting with him before he had said a word. What was he supposed to think?

"I'm Caleb" He said, smile wide on his face. "Son of Athena. And you are?" He asked. He walked a little closer to the girl. She was about his age, give or take a year. So were most people on this campus. He looked the girl up and down like any rational almost sixteen year old boy would. Without standing right beside her it was hard to tell how close in height they were, but he assumed he had an inch or two on her. She was probably a daughter of Aphrodite. Upon further inspection though, he assumed differently. Her dress style was too different.  Aphrodite girls dressed elegantly, and at times almost slutty. She was neither. It was a little bit punk. He had no clue who her godly parent was, but it wasn't Athena, and it wasn't Aphrodite.

Despite the odd amount of trust Caleb had for this girl, he gripped tightly to his whip. It was the only thing he had to defend himself, whether something outside, or something he missed when he came in. It wasn't much, but it was something. He held it coiled up until a loud noise drew his attention outside the door. It was definitely a monster. Even though he knew it could never get in, he dropped everything but the handle. He glanced at the girl in the arena with him and then back at the door. The leather strap dragged the dirt behind it as he walked to the door. The celestial bronze knife left a wide scrape mark, and a slight sound. He looked at the barred door handles. Expected at any moment something to beat against it.
