If you can't have Scott McCall, why bother?

betcha you have no idea what this topic is about. Quiet youngling. I am about to tell you.

So if you didn't know, for us Americans, this is the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address (you know, the speech that starts with '4 score and 7 years ago').

Which is reallllyyy exciting. Lincoln wrote that speech to convince people to fight for him in the war and as a memorial speech for those who had died on the bloodiest battle America had fought in at the time. In Lincoln's speech, he urged the troops to fight the remainder of the war so that 'the government, by the people, for the people, and of the people shall not perish from the Earth.' (and yes, I memorized it. That was from memory). Thanks to Lincoln's efforts, our country is still whole, 150 years later.

random history fact of the day.

non Americans can just bask in the glory of Abe Lincoln because he is pretty awesome.

*basks in the glory of Lincoln*

as a Canadian, i have to say, it's so impressive, the history of America-- and its people. there are many, er, not-so-pleasant experiences that the people have had to go through, but America is still here, whole, in the end.

and Lincoln has made such an effort to keep it whole. kudos to him.

you have given me a history lesson today, beanie. I DEMAND ONE TOMORROW TOO no it's okay history is too marvelous and complicated a thing for me to understand lol
