Subject: Trying Not to be Grumpy (Hawk and Doc) Mon Oct 20, 2014 1:56 pm
I sit in the shadow of the Armory, with my back against its wall, with my legs crossed and my head down as I pick at blades of grass and clover flowers. My long, dark, curly hair is over my right shoulder and my finger nails are slightly green because of the chloroplast from the grass. I'm wearing an orange camp shirt, rolled up jeans, and black sneakers.
I look up at the Commons Area. It's midday, and campers are walking around happily talking to each other, and wondering if I should try to talk to someone. The more I seclude myself the more difficult socializing becomes. It's not like I hate people, or that I don't want friends, it's just difficult for me to continue conversations with others. English is a second language to me, and sometimes I have a hard time finding the right words. If only everyone spoke Portuguese. I sigh. That's not going to happen, and no one was particularly friendly in Portugal anyway.
I look back down at the small plants around me, with a slight glare. I try not to think about my home country, but because I often think of my mother, it's difficult not to. I can't go through a day without remembering the afternoon I found out my mother had been murdered at her work, and all of the information she had on the case she was on was stolen. As I begin to think about it, the shadow I'm sitting in darkens noticeably.

Derek walked through the common area, heading towards the armory to grab his sword before heading to training. He noticed one of his campers, Luzia, sitting in the shadows by herself. He walked up to her, "Hello, Luzia, how are you?" He asked taking a seat beside her.

I look up at Derek, jumping slightly because you surprised. "I am okay," I state, looking over at you. I blink a few times to clear my head of thoughts about my mother and the shadow lightens to it's normal shade. "How are you?" I ask, giving you a small smile in attempt to be friendly.

It was simple. Go to the armory. Pick up my Scythe. Go and relax in the woods. First thing was first. I signed out my scythe. I spun it around in my hand in front of me. I nodded my thanks and turned. I slipped it into the respected sheath on my back. I turned and walked three feet and heard Derek, the Hades Cabin leader speak. I stuck my head around the corner. "Anything I can do to help?" I asked.

Derek looked at the girl sitting beside him, she seemed to have been in thought. "Im sorry if I disrupted you. I just wanted to make sure everything was alright with you." He replied. This whole leadership thing was relatively new to him, and he wanted to make sure he did a good job. "I am doing well thanks." He added, responding to her question.

I notice our sibling, and, hoping to change the conversation and avoid having to talk about my mother, I say, "Hello, Jellal. How are you?" I say that mostly because I can't remember how to say 'It's all good' or ' Everything is fine'. It's annoying but I'll figure out a way to work around it. If only they understood Portuguese.

I slid down the side of the armory next to Luzia. I nodded at Derek. "Alright what about you. Hiding again? I was about to go to the woods and train if you guys want to join me." I asked. Being a child of Hades I was not about to sneak out of the camp during the day. I would be slaughtered in minutes.

Derek looked up as someone else walked over to where he was sitting. "Hello Jellal, its nice to see you. I just got back from the training gym." He replied. "How have you been lately?" He asked.

I look back and forth at the boys for a moment before I say, "I have not trained yet. I would not mind going to the woods?" I look back and forth at my brothers again, hoping I said that right. It sounded right to me, but I also say things in the wrong order in English when it seems like it's right to me.
