Seth Marcus Motega; son of Apollo, god of the sun

Sprinting and running. Seth was glad he had decided to stay in shape for this. Out of all the things though, zombies had to attack camp. Seth couldn't sleep anyone. He didn't know if it was the fear of being bitten or the people he had killed already. One of them had been a new camper Seth had taught how to shot a bow an arrow. Now the kid had been killed by his own weapon.

Seth couldn't dwindle on that now. This was life and die. Yet, he wasn't ready to see more people die at his hands. It wasn't like they were alive or anything. Seth still thought they were despite the fact that the zombies would rip Seth's throat out without a question.

Shaking his head, Seth tripped over something. Rolling over, Seth saw it was a zombie. Seth scrambled up, glad that the sun had not set yet. Yet, they only had a good ten minutes before it did. When the sun went down and Seth and Ray didn't get in the store, they were toast.

"Ray faster!" Seth yelled at her as he sprinted towards the door, glad they had made it. Reaching to the door before Ray, he banged on it, begging to the gods that someone would open it. "Please open! The sun's still out!" Seth shouted, banging on the door. To his relief, a camper opened up the door. "You guys are lucky," the camper stated. Seth ignored him though.

"Ray!"

getting through the past few nights wasn't easy. Ray wasn't happy with how things had turned out for the past few days, and she didn't think anyone was. it was nearly impossible to think all of this was real. she felt well prepared for anything at this point. the past few nights she had spent...pretty much alone, but not really. She had come to join Seth on this night just to settle him. or maybe she wanted to. he was one of the few people she could tolerate...barely though. it was nice to know he had continued to survive this event.

covered head to toe in almost the same clothes for days, she still didn't care for the heat. her knife strapped securly to her leg and a quiver and bow hung over her shoulder. she had everything she needed in her bag, but sadly that only consisted of new pairs of socks, underwear and gronola bars and ambrosia. the necessities. sadly that didn't include pants, shirts, or arrows for that matter. she learned to deal with it though. she knew she had everything under control: in her bag, or on her body, she was ready.

the only thing ray had forgotten was to tie up her hair.

ray ran behind seth, keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings, which he probably wasn't. his eyes were set on the Camp Store. she watched him trip and that concluded she was right with his awareness. the doors had already been closed but Seth banged them enough for people to open them from the inside. she didn't blame them. Seth was good at getting what he wanted just because he pestered so much.

Seth obnoxiously called Ray's name, rather loudly, the second they got in. She was right behind him. Ray quickly put both hands on his shoulders, spun him around and said, "right behind you Sunny Boy. calm down, we're in a safe place." she sighed and looked around the crowded shop. great, she thought, more people.

Seth Marcus Motega; son of Apollo, god of the sun

Seth felt a little dumb calling Ray's name even though she was right behind. As the doors shut with a pound clang, Seth shouldered his backpack, happy that Isabella had packed it for him. Where was she by the way? Not thinking about it much, Seth lead Ray away from the mass of people, knowing she wasn't found of the living kind. Seth threw his bag against the wall before siting down, putting his head in his hands.

"I hate this," Seth muttered to Ray, wondering if she heard or not. Seth just really wondered how Ray was able to put up with Seth's dry humor all the time. He wasn't going to ask her now though. It wasn't the time. Maybe after this was all over Seth would take Ray out to dinner or something. Not as a date though, more like a "thank you for not killing me no matter how many times I teased you about your chances of winning the lottery."

Going through his "enchanted" backpack that seemed to hold almost anything, Seth pulled out his bow and a few arrows. Seth had wished that these arrows magically appeared back after he used them. Seth had his dagger of course and for the first time, Seth had a sword. Well, he had been carrying it the whole time on his belt. It felt unfamiliar to him and heavy.

All of a sudden, moans and groans came from outside and Seth knew the sun went down. Seth covered his ears, not wanting to her. It made Seth want to go crazy. Yet, he heard something that did not belong in the tangle of moans and groans. It was a cry for help and oh, did Seth know whose voice it was. Jumping up quickly, Seth ran to the door.

"You have to open it!" Seth yelled at the camper, feeling so sick to his stomach right now. "We can't it's after dark!" The camper yelled back, as if Seth was stupid or something. "Please open up please!" The voice yelled, or Isabella yelled over and over again . Seth felt so sick. Grabbing the camper by the shirt, Seth hissed through his clenched teeth, "Open the door now or I swear to the gods I will cut your head off and put it on a fireplace." The camper seemed unfazed though.

ray sort of appreciated seth taking her off to the side, away from most of the campers. all  the windows were boarded up probably four times over, and all the furniture up against any possible way of getting inside. ray shrugged her backpack on her shoulder, feeling a bit uneasy, but soon shrugged the feeling off. along with Seth, she set down her backpack and contemplated taking off her jacket, but settled with unzipping it. might as well get comfortable, but not too comfortable. hopefully this hideout wouldn't be hit too hard tonight. things weren't looking so good though.

ray uttered a mutual hate towards the situation with Seth. leaning against the wall she looked over the room one more time. there were numerous younger campers in here, count of maybe five out of the thirty campers that were in there. she looked at her watch and thought of how it was going to be another long night. she decided to put down her quiver and count her arrows. she had used quite a few but she was sure to try and scavenge up a few by tomorrow...if she made it til then.

maybe fifteen minutes had passed since the sun had officially gone down and there was already pounding on the doors. unpleasant noises sounded outside and ray made a point of backing away from the walls. but that wasn't all she heard. it came with cries. live cries from a person, a girl, right outside. apparently Seth knew her, because he freaked.

everything happened so quickly, ray barely processed. she watched from their space on the wall before interfering. he was screaming at some of the boys at the door, and they were yelling right back. ray didn't want to watch because she almost knew what would happen and she didn't like it. she really didn't care about anyone else in here, but maybe seth, and that was a problem at the moment. the second he grabbed a boy, she intervened.

Ray grabbed seth roughly by the shoulders and flung him away from the boy. "Seth!" she hissed, "you need to pull yourself together, there is nothing they can do! we're not going to kill each other in here!" ray now hated the fact that she was caring, because she knew there was no way anyone was getting in or out of this place unless the dead tore the store down brick by brick.

Seth Marcus Motega; son of Apollo, god of the sun

Ray's words barley made it through Seth's ears. He couldn't hear her over Isabella's screams. Oh gods, oh gods, what was Seth going to do. Finally looking at Ray, he meant to say something when Isabella let out a blood curling scream and she screamed Seth's name. Without even thinking, Seth pushed the camper away and started to unbolt the door before someone grabbed him from behind, pinning Seth against the hard brick wall.

"No open the door!" Seth screamed, feeling that his voice was so useless. The campers didn't listen and bolted the door again. "Open the door! You can't-" Seth got caught off as Isabella screamed Seth's name over and over again. He thrashed against the person holding him back, making his skin dig into the brick wall. It was probably all cut up, but he didn't care. Seth tried and fought against the person holding him back, but he just couldn't get free. Breathing through his clenched teeth, Seth prayed to the gods that someone would open the door.

Another blood curling scream was heard and Seth swore he was about to loose it. "Open the door please!" Seth begged, trying to get free. All Seth was really doing was hurting himself more by fighting back the huge Ares kid that was holding him. Suddenly the screaming stopped and sickening crunches were heard. At this point, Seth actually screamed. Isabella oh my gods she was dead and gone now. His first best friend at camp. Seth never had a crush on Isabella, but he always thought she was his sister and always took care of her. Isabella taught Seth so much from Greek mythology to fighting and even to math. She helped with Kat and all his girl problems. Now the only girl he loved so much with all his heart was now gone.

Suddenly, a sob came from Seth's mouth and racked his whole body. Everyone was quiet in the store, not sure what to do. The Ares kid let Seth go, walking away as well. Everyone seemed to walk away now these days. Seth just fell to the floor and cried.

ray could barely stand being in that building. she should have just kept to herself again that night, maybe hide out in the shed, she didn't care if she ran into nikki again. she was tolerable in that state of things and right now, she wished to be anywhere but the crowded and terribly held camp store.

the store now held an ere veil of silence, other than the faint sobs coming from Seth on the floor. it was agonizing to her. ray wasn't good in these sorts of situations. looking around she could tell everyone was worked up by this, who wouldn't be? ray definitly didn't look it but some people show their grief and sorrow for other people in different ways. and ray's reaction was to speak up, first clearly, and take charge, because the things outside weren't stopping with the girl.

"those things will be at us all night now that they know there are people in here," ray started at the campers by the door. "everyone in this room needs to take up station by every entrance. there needs to be more blockade on that door. this place needs to be sealed tight, and better than it already is. not a bit of night air is getting into this place. we'll need everyone to hold this place--"

"why are we taking orders from you now?" the boy who had been holding seth spoke up. ray tensed and turned to him. her eyes were fierce with annoyance towards this boy and absolute anger. ray wasn't popular around camp, but people basically knew not to mess with her. questioning her was just as bad, for she almost never lost arguments. they were one of her strong suits.

"because we're not just going to stand around here and wait for out turn to come. you just let a girl die, and her blood is on your hands, all of our hands. there was nothing any of us could do, opening those doors would have been suicide, but we're losing people by the minute out there, and you damn well know that they're people we all know. now you get this done, or so help me gods, I will tear you limb from limb, and we both know that wouldn't help the problem at hand." she glared down the large boy in front of her and they basically had this stare down and ray must have won. the boy started directing people to the stationed places she had originally ordered. they would use whatever they had in the store as supplies. ray would join the defensive outlook in a moment.

awkwardly, ray turned around, her eyes trailing to the boy on the ground. he was broken, already she could tell that he was gone and never coming back the same; at least he wasn't coming back for certain things. these were the actual situations ray was terrible with. if it had been any other person in any other situation she would have left him there to pull himself together, but it was Seth. this was insane, though. she shouldn't bother, but maybe her sort of comfort was what he needed. she might as well try.

she propped Seth up his back to wall. might as well let him breath better. curling up in a ball blocked curved air ways and...well she let those thoughts go and focused on him. her hands were on his shoulders as she knelt down next to him. I shouldn't have done this what am I doing? It was funny. when it came to combat she was great with words and able to get things our clearly and without trouble. this was so different. the first words that came out of her mouth weren't the best to some people, but coming from her, it was the best comfort one could get. "do you want a gronola bar?"

she half expected Seth to freak out at her.

Seth Marcus Motega; son of Apollo, god of the sun

Numb, numb, numb. That's all Seth felt right now. He didn't know what to feel anymore. Yet, he did know that he wasn't finished grieving for Isabella. It would only be worse in the morning. Seth would have to walk outside and see her mangled body. He vaguely wondered why he didn't hear Isabella fight back. There were probably so many of them to fight. That thought only made Seth feel even worse.

His sobs had come to a stop after Ray had given her speech. He let Ray prop him up against the wall. Seth barely heard Ray's question. He mumbled a soft no before turning his face to Ray, a few tears rolling down his cheeks. "I-I don't get it," Seth whispered to Ray, his voice cracking. Another sob came from Seth and he pulled his knees to his chest. He wanted to stop crying already. Seth felt so weak. But wheat killed him was that he couldn't do anything to Isabella. To Seth, he didn't try hard enough. Not at all.

"I didn't try hard enough," Seth managed to choke out as he tried to stop crying. Wiping the tears away, Seth breathed out heavily, trying to remain calm and not kill the Ares kid. Seth's eyes were red now and no longer the bright mischievous green. You could tell something had been taken away from him and he would not be the same again.

All of a sudden, a new emotion filled Seth's body and coursed through his veins. Anger. Clenching his fists, Seth wanted to punch himself for not being strong enough to save Isabella. Gods, this was his fault. And if it make things worse, something rolled out of Seth's pocket. Eyeing it from where he was sitting, Seth saw it was Isabella's blue bracelet she had given Seth this morning for some reason. Isabella wore two because they were her weapons before she changed to a sword.

Seth stared at the bracelet, half expecting it to move closer or do some flips, but it didn't. He kept his green eyes on the bracelet before looking away. Then without warning, Seth punched the wall next to him, causing him to split his knuckles. He didn't feel the pain though. Or it wasn't that painful compared to what he was feeling now. The room got quiet again, now afraid of the once jokester.

everytime they lost someone the dead would gain one and ray hoped that someone else would get rid of the now dead girl that Seth knew before he ever saw a zombie again. they didn't need him to choke by seeing a zombie of someone he knew, let alone the girl he could do nothing for. kneeling in front of seth she worried this and it surprised her how worried she was. she almost felt disgusted by it, but it was real, and she needed to be there with seth, at least for a moment longer. she couldn't stand him like this; she could barely stand him in general.

Ray didn't even flinch when he punched the wall. some people had stopped what they were doing. Gods, damn it Seth, she though, you want to make it easier for them to get in here? At this point in time she was better at keeping her emotions inside instead of carelessly blurting them out. The silence in the room was so thick you could cut through it with a knife. Ray wanted to yell at everyone to get back to what they were doing, but she decided against it.

"You can't beat yourself up over this," she assured him. But that was all she had left. she couldn't bring herself to say any more. What could she say? these were the exact reasons she hated getting close to people. in the life a demigod had to live, how would getting close to people and developing feelings for people help anyone? just looking at seth she remembered that she never wanted to feel like this. It was dangerous for herself to know people and she was risking it with knowing him.

sighing and looking away from the boy in front of her she reached to her bag, finally withholding her firm grip on his shoulders. She dug out a string of bandages and took Seth's good hand. with hers, she forced the bandage into his hand and then closed his fingers around it. all the while doing this while at least trying to look him in the high. she let go of his hand almost and made sure not to linger at all. Now, ray stood up and checked the window right next to them, the one no one was near, and checked for its seal. she only hoped everyone else would continue to do the same and not continue to stare at Seth.

Now, ray was thinking of things to say to him that might get his mind off things, but what do you say to a boy who just lost a close friend?

Seth Marcus Motega; son of Apollo, god of the sun

Ray's words seemed hollow in his ears. Seth knew he could not at all be upset right now. Zombies were attacking. But, at the moment, Seth wanted to go home to his mom and tell her everything and cry. He actually wished he was in the city and at home with his mom. Seth made a small mental note to visit his mom after all of this. If he survived it...

Stretching his now banged hand, Seth took a deep breath, trying to shove all his emotions aside. He had a camp to save. To be honest, at this point the camp could burn to the ground for all Seth cared. Yet, he thought about all the younger campers who couldn't really fight. It gave him a small distraction from the fact of his dead best friend. Closing his eyes, Seth held his breath to make the tears stop. Later, he told himself as he opened his eyes again.

Seth's dull green eyes found where Ray was. "Don't get to close," Seth said dully to Ray, not wanting a zombie to break through and stanch her away. He knew it really wouldn't happen considering Ray was "lucky" Or just that's what Seth though. Looking around the room, Seth found his eyes on the blue bracelet again. Leaning over, Seth slipped on the blue beaded bracelet that had one single charm, an owl. An owl for Athena.

The campers were still silent. The much younger campers were huddled together, afraid for their lives. Seth vaguely wondered when was the last time they had gotten sleep. Then he wondered how much sleep he had gotten. Seth couldn't really remember and didn't care anymore. Staying silent, Seth watched as some campers went to the roof to shoot arrows or Greek fire. He wanted to go to the roof, but he knew that wouldn't be the best idea.

Looking back at Ray, he wondered how could she stand him. "You don't have to stay with me if you don't want to," Seth said softly to Ray, suddenly feeling like a burden. He had never felt that way before and to Seth, this was a whole new feeling. It only made him feel worse. Biting the inside of his cheek, Seth tried to not cry again. And again.

ray had decided to stop trying to get her mind away from things and just lean against the wall, facing Seth. She rolled her eyes at Seth's attempt to warn her of being safer and steering clear of the windows. she didn't put much into it though, just trying to keep him happy for now. whatever he wanted, she thought. there wasn't anything she was really afraid of anyway. plus, there were a couple layers of board against these windows, it would take a little bit for the dead to get inside.

as silent as the room was, Seth and Ray must have decided to break that. crossing her arms awkwardly she watched as Seth bandaged his up. watching him she realized that he must've been fighting so hard right then and she wasn't making it any easier. as everyone was attempting to keep everything in line, hopefully keeping everyone safe, the two of them were basically in a corner. ray wondered if she should leave.

"I wont if you don't want me to." It was all she said and she believed it was all she needed to say. thinking about it she realized she never really said that to anyone before. she never really puts other people's emotions before her own. it was weird, and she didn't know how she felt about it. ray almost gagged. with all this touchy feely kind of stuff she was dealing with, she didn't know how she was going to last the night.

Seth Marcus Motega; son of Apollo, god of the sun

"Please don't go," Seth begged Ray, not wanting to be alone in all of this. He knew Ray wasn't the one to counsel others, but Seth just wanted someone near him. He turned his head away and just looked ahead. Campers were still silent, huddled together. Someone was giving orders and more campers went to the roof to kill some of the undead.

Seth just felt...heavy, like he didn't want to move. A bunch of zombies would have broken down the door and Seth would stay in the same spot. Taking out his dagger, Seth twirled it in his hand. He looked back at Ray then back at his dagger. He could overhear other campers talking about the people who had died so far. Had they not seen what just happened? Seth gritted his teeth, not wanting to get mad.

ooc: it's okay lol

ray actually managed a smile for Seth at his response. She understood him at that point, but she really had no intentions of sitting here all night without really doing anything. As everyone stood silent, either working, or even some preparing for rest, Seth and Ray were in the corner and Ray still wasn't totally crazy about that. She wanted to be killing some things that were killing her...well...you could say friends, even though she really didn't know most people well. Either way, she was still pissed off at whoever helped bring this onto her camp.

So she pushed herself off the wall and picked up her quiver and bow and slung them both around her back. She wasn't going to sit around, but she wasn't leaving Seth alone either. It wasn't going to work that way for her, she swore it. So she turned back to Seth and put out her hand, hoping he would take it, so they could go up to the roof together and maybe help the camp out and kill a few dead.

Suddenly there were screams coming from above them. horrific yells and cries for help and backup. Were there too many? What was going on? the younger children were looking horrified, but they held their weapons in their hands, looking almost eager, but too afraid to advance. Now Ray was totally sure that she was heading up there. With or without Seth, but she was sure he was going to come with her. Ray raised her eyebrows at Seth, as if asking a question to him, hoping she knew his answer.

Seth cringed when the people from above started screaming. That was not good. Out of the corner of his eye, Seth could see the younger campers scared and terrified. He bit his lip, remembering when he was that age. Seth would have passed out if he experienced this when he was 11. Glancing up at Ray, he saw her eyebrow raised, almost in a "You coming or not sunshine?" Swallowing his fears and emotions down his throat, Seth picked up his bow and many arrows, his sword, and dagger.

"Let's make everyone stop screaming," Seth said to Ray, grabbing her arm and pulling her to the stairs. Climbing them quickly, Seth had to convince himself he was doing the right thing and not chicken away. Of course, he was shaking and did not feel like himself. What if he had to attack Isabella? Seth tried to chase the thought away, hoping that would NOT happen. Climbing the last step, Seth broke onto the roof and saw the zombies...climbing.

"Seal this door!" Seth shouted to whoever was listening. He shut the steal door to the roof quickly. If he and the other campers couldn't died, at least the other campers would be alright. Seth's last plan was to run with Ray and open the door again and close it before zombies got it. "Kill as many and if it's too much then we'll have to go brake down and pray to the gods-" Seth got cut off as a zombie came out of nowhere and grabbed onto Seth's jacket. Kicking the zombie in the chest, Seth threw his knife right into the head, making it crumble to the ground.

Seth grabbed an arrow and started shooting the zombies on the roof so far. Grabbing s fallen Greek fire grenade, Seth threw it off the roof and onto the ground below. The zombies exploded and erupted into flames. That saved them some time.

ray's heart beat fast and it felt as if someone had suddenly injected adrenaline through her veins. she suppressed a smile, for that wasn't going to be very appropriate in this situation. She was excited for a little action she hadn't had as much as she would have preferred the last few days. Some may think she was a little insane to be excited for battle, but she loved the rush and risk of death it gave her. She was prepared, and confident enough in herself to not get killed.

The second she broke the roof two arrows we notched in her bow and immediately fired at the attackers. The door now sealed, Seth, Ray, two boys who had been guarding the door and a girl who looked maybe eleven were on the roof now. All fighting fiercely. The dead were coming at almost every angle possible. She could tell they were hacking at the windows and doors on the ground, but even more were piling up onto the roof. the store was so old, she wondered why the ceiling wasn't caving in with so much weight of people and zombies. not that they weighed much. bones and flabby skin probably weighs close to nothing. Or the Hephaestus kids were just amazing at building the buildings throughout camp.

Kicking a zombie off the roof only seconds after she drove her knife through its skull twice, ray realized already running low on arrows and would have to result to consistent close contact battle. She wasn't too thrilled about this, it wasn't like she wanted zombie guts and grime covering her. She continued to use both arrow and knife though.

A zombie was approaching an unknowing Seth and ducking underneath another walking dead, Ray pulled out her last arrow and shot. Her mother must've been blessing her at this point because the arrow drove itself through one part of the zombie's head and out the other. A smile playing across her lips, ray now had her back almost right against Seth's.

"My last arrow just saved your ass," Ray grumbled with a smirk across her lips. "A thanks seems to be in order." and with that she stabbed and kicked and elbowed anything that came at her. Ray stayed with her back to Seth, almost directly behind him. Seemingly, they had each others' backs.

Seth Marcus Motega; son of Apollo, god of the sun

Seth wondered for a moment at how long they could keep fighting. The zombies would just keep coming and coming. Seth came to the scary thought of fighting off the zombies himself while everyone went down again. And if Seth didn't make it...

Seth blinked when Ray saved him from a zombie. His lips twitched into a small smile. "Thanks," Seth said to her, shooting yet another arrow at the zombies head. Yet, Seth's heart hurt a little because he expected to see Isabella climb up anytime sooner or later if she survived and became one of them...

Kicking another zombie away and throwing an extra dagger, Seth stumbled back, realizing how out of breath he really was. He thought running away from angry campers would be enough exercise to keep him in shape. Picking up another Greek fire bomb, Seth threw it over, hoping it killed at least a few dozen zombies.

Using his last arrow, Seth shot it at another zombie. The Greek fire seemed to be working a bit. Not as many zombies were climbing as fast. Glancing at Ray, Seth said, "When everyone is tired, open the door. I-I'll distract the zombies while you guys get away." He didn't want to add that he might possibly die from saving a small number of campers. Seth felt weird that for the first time he was doing something really stupid for the first time. Yeah, Seth had pulled pranks and done other things like that, but they didn't mean death.

"I-" Seth started to say until he finally saw who had had been dreading. Isabella. Or zombie Isabella but the same Isabella. Seth's heart jumped to his throat as if it was trying to claw it's way out. She was the newest and blood still oozed from her injures. Her left arm was completely gone and part of the left side of her face was missing. Her orange camp shirt was ripped in various places, yet her camp necklace still hung on her neck. Seth thought about his and how she had way more beads than him. Isabella's eyes threw Seth off and made him freeze. They were still gray, just like Athena. They didn't even turn bloodshot yet or red... still gray.

"Her eyes," Seth moaned, his hands starting to shake. Isabella heard Seth's voice and began to come near him. Seth stumbled back as she came closer. Oh gods oh gods. His hands shook and Seth even dropped his dagger. Could Seth give Isabella the last blow? He suddenly remembered when he was a whole lot younger and they were word fighting. Seth remembered how bad he was and she won in less then 80 seconds. He could never beat her. Now though, he sure could beat her and Seth wanted to laugh at the irony even though his mouth was clamped shut with fear.

She came close and made an attempt to grab Seth's face. His Greek training took over fear and Set ducked before moving to the side. Seth swallowed the lump forming in his throat as Isabella came close again. Picking up a fallen dagger, Seth threw it at Isabella, but it only hit her shoulder. Seth just couldn't kill her oh gods. It's not her. She's already dead, Seth thought, grabbing another dagger. Muttering the words "I'm so sorry," over a thousand times, Seth threw it again this time, hitting Isabella square in the head. She fell and didn't move again.

Seth felt like he was being pranked or something. All these zombies could not be happening. This was just so cruel and mean. But that was Kronos. Hitting his head a couple of times, Seth tried his best to forget it all and focus on the now. Turning back to Ray, Seth grabbed his dagger from his hidden pocket and went to grab a zombie before something pulled him back. A strangled scream came from his throat as Seth fell back. He felt fingers dig into his jacket. Something oozed onto his face and Seth closed his eyes and stabbed upward, praying to the gods he hit the head.
