She snapped awake, holding her chest as she gasped for air. The Demeter cabin was dark with moonlight flooding through the windows. She had some sort of nightmare, she could not remember the details. cradling her legs to her chest she tried to calm down. The nightmares had been becoming worse and worse as the end of this camping year approached. Now that Genesis had really learned what is out there waiting for her past Half-Blood Hill, she began to doubt her abilities to make it on her own. She was not a strong fighter, This was her first year at camp! She was having panic attacks at night from thinking or dreaming about it. She laid back down onto her back and tried to sleep. She awoke to the sound of her siblings shouting, Two girls had gotten into a fight over whom stole who's spade. Genesis frowned at them, listening to their angry voices was not helping her nerves. She saw other siblings packing, hugging, and saying goodbye. Genesis rolled herself out of bed and went to the bath house to prepare for the day. After an icy shower, she left and went to go check the strawberry fields one last time before she left. When she arrived, the fruity scent filled her nose and she let out a sigh. She was going to miss the mass of land here. But working at her fathers Nursery was going to be fun! She missed her father. He had gotten a new girlfriend while she was gone. Genesis was not was enthusiastic about the idea of another girl in the house, she had enough sharing the bathroom with her sisters let alone a grown woman. She walked back to her cabin, now most of her Summer only siblings had been on their way home. She exchanged some goodbyes with her cabin mates, packed her bags and left. She walked through the courtyard area and passed the big house. She found herself feeling wet in the eyes from the thought of leaving, This place had affected her so much! She made her way up the hill and past Thailas pine. Holding her suitcase in hand, she whipped a tear away and went past the camp boundary. There she walked past the cars of many other campers who were reuniting with their parents. She spotted her dads old Hippie Mobile. She smiled from how goofy he looked driving the thing, It was one of those old Buggie-Van like things.. something Austin Powers would drive. She placed the suitcase on the ground and ran to her father. Embracing him the minute he walked from the car, she let out a laugh. "I've missed you so much!" They hugged for a minute or so. "I missed you too Gen." Her fathers voice had a cheerful energy about it, a voice that makes you excited about whatever they are talking about. She let go of the hug, looking to him and smiling. "Oh, I've nearly forgot!" She dug into her pocket, removing a hemp bracelet she had crafted. It was decorated neatly with little deer bone beads, it has an assortment of animals on it. "The beads are deer bone, One of my friends crafted them for me!" Her father smiled as she fastened it around his wrist, looking pleased to be reunited once more. "Thank you Genesis. I love it!" Her father beamed from behind his glasses. Genesis knelt down to get her suitcase, while her father got into the car. She loaded the van and sat in the passenger seat. Looking out the window, she watched the Hill fade off into the distance.

The hot water sprinkled down his back. He stood in the shower for a moment, inhaling and trying to calm down. Today was going to be his first day back to school after camp. What was he going to do if something bad happened? What if his new abilities started acting up? What if another Cheetah tried to ask him for directions to Africa again? These were all possibilities he hoped would never come true.
Since he returned from camp, a lot of his friends tried to get in touch with him. They wanted to go to a party, or surf. Darren kept finding excuses to avoid spending time with them, Like his Mom said no, or he had work ( Which involved waxing his surf board) But he could tell they weren't buying it. Today was the day he had to finally see them at school and make up some fake explanation of where he had gone all summer. Darren heard his mother calling from downstairs" Darren Unless you plan to pay the water bill, GET OUT!". Darren got out of the shower and moved into his bedroom. He changed into a blue and white tank top with some Khaki shorts. When he got downstairs, he sat across from his sister at the counter and started to eat break feast. " Oh, Look who decided to save some for the whales." Lisa had seemed a little annoyed since he came home from camp. She must of felt envious of Darren being special. It hurt Darren to make his sister feel so insignificant, and the way she treated him hurt worse. He nodded her off and stood up. Grabbing his backpack, he headed for the door. " I am heading out early Mom, I want to make it to school on time for once..". His Mother smiled to him and nodded him off. Darren walked out of his house and down the street, To one of the worst experiences he would ever face.

Darren made it to school just fine! He walked through the front doors and waved to some of his fellow classmates. He walked past some Ex-Girlfriends and a few upper-classmen he'd hung with before. When he made it to his locker, Ted approached him. Ted had been his best friend since middle school when they both got in trouble for wedgieing one of this kids in art class. Darren smiled to Ted, he had shaved his head over the summer into a buzz cut sort of style. Ted patted Darren on the back, looking to him with a goofy smile " Were you been dude? I tried to get a hold of you all summer, But your mom said.. Heh.. She said you went to summer camp." Ted looked to Darren with a sort of chuckle, they usually would make fun of those sort of things. Darren decided to play it cool, speaking to him " Yeah dude, It was so Lame. Something my Mom made me do." This was clearly a lie, he couldn't wait to get back to camp. Ted patted him on the shoulder again, looking around the hall. " So yeah, I guess we got some new girl in our grade now." He looked around the hall a little nervously as they walked. " She's REAL Weird, She like doesn't blink or something. I don't know, but every time I see her I SWEAR She doesn't blink. " Darren laughed this off, looking at his Paranoid friend with a smile. They continued to class, laughing at jokes made the rest of the way.

For the most part, the day went by pretty normal. He saw some good friends, Hung out with Ted, and even found a teacher that didn't make him want to light himself on fire! While walking out of the building at dismissal, A girl approached him. " Helloooo " Her voice had an almost hiss like ring to it. Darren turned to her, taken back by what he saw. She was un blinking, with short black hair tired into a pony tail, She had a snake skin looking belt around her black dress.. But where her legs should of been was what appeared to be a Serpents tail. Darren let out a sort of chuckle looking at her "Already? Wow, this must be some sort of record.".
She appeared taken back at him for a moment, licking her lips. " Yoooou Doo not Feeeeear meee?". Darren looked at her, frowning for a moment " What do you think I've been doing all summer? Working on my tan?" Darren shook his head and spoke " No, I've been busting my hump training to defend myself from Creep-zoids like you. So what ever you think you're going to do to me, It's not going to happen." The snake girl hissed for a moment, looking at him suspiciously. " I Ssssssupposssse You are right... Letsssss ssssseee how your friend TED Feelssss about thissss" She quickly turned around and started slithering off towards the school. Panicking for a moment, Darren send his hand down to his pocket. He had gotten a sort of Parting gift from camp that summer, A Mace! The mace appeared at first to be a little Money Sack board piece from Monopoly, But when he wanted it too it would change into a Mace. He lifted the mace from his pocket, darting after the snake girl. He ran into the school building, looking around frantically. Hearing a shout from the band room, he hurried to it. Apon entering, he saw the Lizard lady, Along with Ted entangled in her tail. " Doo You know who I am Booy?" She asked. "I am one of the Lamia! Devourer of children! " She let out a triumphant hiss, looking to Ted and smiling. "Ssssooo Drop the Masssssseee And I wont eat your friend. " She let out a razor toothed grin too him, her skin apearing more and more scaly by the second. Darren smiled to her "For some strange reason, I don't believe you.. Darren noticed Ted had fallen unconscious [i] I have to do something quick. Darren looked the snake in the eyes, trying to use his mental influences on her. He was trying hard to make her thinking and movement sloppy. The snake began to wobble for a moment, Hissing at him "Whaaat are you doing?!". While she was disoriented, he quickly lunged right towards the snake woman. Bashing his mace onto her skull, she burst into golden dust. She was banished back to Tartarus. Ted lay on the ground, still asleep. Darren put the mace into his pocket, frowning at what had happened. Kneeing down to Ted, he whiped some dust away from his forehead. "Sorry Dude.. I guess I should of stayed at camp." He frowned to his friend, wondering what he would say when he woke up.

So as it turned out, Ted woke up thoroughly terrified and ranting about a Giant Snake attacking him in the band room. The teachers assumed he was on something, and sent him home. He was grounded for a few months, but that wasn't the bad part. Darren had decided he needed to go home.. Back to camp Half-Blood. He was going to stay a Permanent resident from then on, A few yearly visits back to his Family every so often. He told Ted that he was going to go live with his dad from now on, And apologized for everything that happened to him. It was hard leaving them all behind, but if being there ment his loved ones were in danger, he would never be able to live with himself.
" I'm going to miss my life here.. But I need to live up to what I really am. I am a Demigod."

It was morning, Genesis look around her bedroom. It was just as she left it, her brass bed frame, The victorian looking dresser set along with her vanity. There was a potted plant on her dresser, Her father must of cared for it while she was gone. She smiled, getting out of bed and looking out of her window. Her house was a sort of old victorian, Peeling pain, Squeeky Floor boards, and a leaky roof. She loved it. They lived a little ways outside of New Orleans, out near the Bayou. Her family owned a few acres of woods, mostly swamp lands. She loved to take long walks through the backwoods during the summer, really communing with nature and all. She quickly showered and dressed in a nice white sweater and scarf. It was a chilly September morning.

She walked down one of the more familiar paths behind her house, moving through the forest peacefully. There was some old stone foundations back here, from previous structures. She loved to come here and think, or sketch. The she continued to move through the woods, looking around the wonderous woods. After an hour or two, she came across the beginnings of the swamp. Sitting down under a tall tree, she closes her eyes and rested for a moment. The woods where whispering too her.. (A Perk of being the Daughter of Demeter). She listened to them singing, or speaking to one another. She listened to the birds sing and the swamp growl... Wait a second. She opened her eyes, turning to the nearby water.

There, a serpentine head was rising out of the pond. Genesis let out a scream, lurching backwards as far as she could from the beast. As it rose higher and higher from the swamp, its body came into better view. It wasn't coming at her as if to attack, it would slowly rising from the swamp.. almost peacefully. Genesis stood, removing the Hair-Clip Dagger from her hair. Still not sure of this creatures motives. It let out another half-hearted Hiss, almost as if it was in pain. Genesis frowned for a moment as she looked to the creature "Not here to skin me alive I see?" she recalled something about serpents for a second.. Weren't they Sacred to Demeter? Genesis moved closer to the thing, smiling to it. " I'm Genesis.. I'm guessing you know my mother?" Genesis smiled, waving to it for a moment. As she came closer, she got the idea of how Gigantic the snake was. It nodded to her for a moment, as if to understand. The snake was about as wide as the trees in the woods, the part coming from its body was as tall as Genesis herself. " Woah.. Y-You're large.. ". The serpent let out a.. Smile? OR if snakes could smile, That's what Genesis guessed it was. The Snake was moving in constant motion, it's head wiggling from side to side. Genesis offered a hand to the beast, to feel the top of its head. The snake allowed this, closing it's eyes and letting out a pleasant sounding hiss. Is this really happening? It was hard to imagine she was forming a friendship with a giant serpent. Genesis smiled to the snake.. And it nodded to her. " I guess we're going to become good friends? Genesis giggled at the snake, finally finding something that made her feel at home.
