| It was crisp fresh morning, the snow was gone for now to allow camp to thaw. Surely it would be back in a few days. Still it was chilly and frost clung to the ground in small diamond like spears. Colby was enjoying this weather. She was out with her puppy today. Kaia was 4 months old, and didn't slow down. Despite her short fur she bounded through the forest occasionally biting and growling at pine cones and leaving a muddy trail of paw prints. After several minutes of nothing but playing Kaia padded back to Colby.
Colby picked up the pup in her arms and walked back to one of the park benchs. The daughter of Nyx just enjoyed the scenery. The creek bubbling and the few birds chirping. It was almost hypnotic, plus the rhythmic petting of the warm buddle in her lap. Colby couldn't help leaning againt the bench and nearly dozing off. However she heard a noise and was soon alert again. Most likely just another camper but you could never be sure.

adam dunlap son of hades
The son of Hades materialized from the shadows, furrowing his brows at the leaves crunching below his feet. "This isn't where I wanted to go." He crosses his arms, shaking his head for a moment before noticing the girl adjacent to him. "Oh hey," Adam says, giving her a lop-sided grin. He looked the girl over, knowing that it had been over a year since they had last met. The time was obvious too, as she had grown. Sigh.
He supposed he probably had to. He was nineteen now, though he appeared older; that was due to the stubble on his jawline, and the scars on his arms and face. Adam hadn't changed emotionally, he didn't think. That was a lie though. Ever since returning to camp, he had changed in more ways than anybody could know. Shifting his weight from one leg to another, he bit his lip, thinking. Could his problems with shadow-traveling be included in that list of changes? Maybe. Adam knew that he could write it off for a while, but eventually he'd have to address the issue.
For now, though, he pushed it away. Leaning against a tree, he tried to appear as cool as a cucumber. He couldn't help but glance anxiously at the puppy in Colby's lap. Animals never liked Adam. "What are you doing in the forest?"

| When Colby turned around she recognized the figure nearly at once. He looked much older then remembered, much more then a year. Although she didn't give this fact up immeditelly though. Colby narrowed her dark green eyes at him, and shifted herself to face him a bit more. "I'm sorry." She started, sounding convincingly unsure "You look a bit familer." Kaia picked her head up but laid it back down, more concerned with its nap. Colby keep a striaght face. "Actually, you look a bit like an old friend of mine, only I don't remember you having fur on your face, Adam." Colby finally smiled back, letting him know it was just a bit of teasing.
Really it was exciting to see him again, had been a while. How many things have changed between then and now. A lot, she was hardly the same more mature and less stressful. Physically she wasn't too different, still long hair albeit a several inches shorter and just a bit more grown up. But hardly as drastic as the son of Hades standing in front of her. She shook her head laughing a bit, "It's been too long, what have you been doing?" She doubted she would get much of an an anwser immediately, but she knew she would get one before they parted ways again.
"Just wanted to come out here with Kaia." She stroked the dobermin puppy as it continued to sleep. "I just got her not to long ago." Colby tucked one leg onto the bench. Glancing up at Adam she recited his wuestion bsck to him, "What are you doing in the forest?" With the morning sun crawling sluggishly across the sky and frost reflecting light it was a beauiful sure. However, Colby doubting he was here for siteseeing. Although it had been a while he could of developed a habit of watching sunrises. | |
