we don't need no wings to fly
The wind was getting colder, Jake was sure. It was obvious to be able to tell, and the cold wind painted a light blush on either one of his cheeks. It was midday, give or take a few hours, but the sun was partially hidden behind the clouds in the sky. Winter was nearing, and Jacob really couldn’t wait for it; he loved the winter. He loved the snow, and the ice-skating, and all he fun; nothing really more, just the fun. He had got to camp just before winter last year, so he had been here to attend the festival thing they had had. Without a doubt, it had been amazing. Jacob knew that he personally couldn’t wait for it all again, and that he was going to go mental; snowballs, ice-skating races. That was a month away yet though, so he had to try and focus on now, just like how he tried not to think about his past.

With hands stuffed deep inside the pockets of his sweat-pants, Jacob kept his head down at his bright Supra sneakers as he walked, not really wanting to make eye-contact with anyone and draw their attention; not since he had been on the news. That had caused him a lot of distress, and he was starting to become partially paranoid about whether the people he knew and were friends with knew about it or not. He knew he shouldn’t be worried, but he really was. Most hadn’t seen it, but he was still paranoid. Jake just felt the need to try and avoid the world, even though he couldn’t and he had to learn that. He was bad at things like that and the seventeen year old still believed that running away from your problems was as good as facing them. Although the last time he had tried to run away from his problems, his sister had ended up dead and his father disappeared.

Maybe he had to think that one over.

Jake fixed the hood of his grey hoodie before letting his hands reach up to make sure that his hair was still sticking up. He said he would meet Addie here – by the edge of the creek – but he had never really said a general time. Just around now. And he didn’t even know why he was meeting her, seeing as it wasn’t like a date or anything. If it had been, Jacob would have dressed better than he was now, but he was really only caring about comfort at the moment instead of appearance and the perception he would receive. He just liked her, so he wanted to see her. That wasn’t wrong, was it? He was allowed a life too, and he did really like Addie even if he still struggle to decide what they were. They had kissed, but they had been pretty standoffish with one another, so that confused him. Then again, he had a history of messing up relationships, and it took him a while to stop ignoring a girl and putting his feelings out there.

Cut him some slack! The only other girlfriend he had had was his adopted sister and he had been stuck in a boys boarding school for many years. He was getting there.

Blowing out of his mouth noisily, Jacob sat his butt down against the boulder and pulled his iPod from his pocket, deciding on killing some time for Addie to get here by trying to beat his high-score on Temple-run. Jake always seemed to spend a lot of his spare-time playing games like that, simply because it was what he was used to. When back in Canada, in the painful months he had been living with his dad, Jake would spend most of his time in his room doing things like that and playing guitar, or out of the house completely. The more he thought about life before camp, the thicker his depression towards it became. He just wanted to be normal. "Crap." He said suddenly, breaking the silence that had taken over the area by the lake. "Stupid monkeys." Reaching into his pocket to pull out a handful of candy before pushing it into his mouth and starting the game again, it was no wonder that Jacob was currently so unaware of what was going on around him.

ooc; you so sexy, guys.

Addie had pulled a Jacob and woke up late that day. None of her siblings' alarm clocks blaring music had managed to wake her. She stayed up late most nights, trying to get in contact with her dad, trying to confront him about everything that he had said on the news, along with everything Jacob's dad said, but she was never successful. He wasn't a qualified lawyer, so him being on the case seemed even stranger than it had before, and the blonde had wanted answers. She couldn't do any finding during the day, because she had to try and act like nothing bothered her and remain unquestioned for the sake of her own sanity, but Addie was getting desperate.

That morning, she had been extremely tired, so she hadn't spent much time getting ready. She had pulled on a pink sweatshirt, a pair of long jean shorts, and she had straightened her hair enough to get the waves out. Then, being lazy, she had pulled it back into pony tail. She looked presentable enough, but not Aphrodite standard like she was always being expected to reach. It didn't take her very long to find Jacob, but when she did, she paused a few steps away. It was nerve racking not knowing whether or not to proceed. He looked really into his game, and things had been awkwardly lately...

The moment Jacob shoved candy into his face, she stepped forward, into a ray of light, and grinned. The water bubbled and Addie felt very at peace. "Jacob!" she called with a grin, waving just short of frantically. "You losing at temple run?" The monkey reference had given it away, along with the way the phone needed to be titled. Addie played enough distractions. She knew her stuff.

we don't need no wings to fly
As much as he deeply hated to admit it, Jake felt his heart leap out of his chest when Addie finally showed that she was there and he instantly died on the game...by falling into water. What he found infuritaing with the game was the fact that you die if you hit a tree, or fall into water. It was called swimming, or...dodging trees. Jake grinned straight away, clicking off his iPod and stowing it away again inside his pocket. It was rude, after all, to play something like that when he had company. He smiled at the blonde girl that had met him here, instantly relieved that she also hadn't dressed in anything more than sweats like he. It would've been pretty embarressing for him, and It would have most-likely tarnished whatever image Addie had of Jake being a relatively nice guy. "You couldn't do any better." the seventeen year old snorted, although the challenge was empty. He didn't exactly fancy getting into a argument with this girl over something as stupid as a game, but he knew that he could probably do much better than her.

There were people walking in the distance down the edge of the creek, but none of them caught Jake's attention. His eyes just moved over them, treating them like silhouettes. That's what they were to his mind and eyes, so he looked back at Addie almost immdiately afterwards. Damn, everything between them was messed up, and Jake was very confused. He did have one sense though, and enough to know that it wouldn't hurt to do what he wanted to do. Taking long strides towards Addie, he quickly wrapped his arms around her and into a hug. He had a feeling that the girl would shudder or be taken back by his embrace, like she normally would, but he just thought that it was the right thing to do. They had both been through a lot lately and he hadn't really seen her for a few days, so it seemed necessary.

"Hey, by the way." He added quickly, knowing that he was a little late. "How have you been lately?" he asked, trying to be conversational, but knowing that she could take it in another way. She had just found out that her dad was the lawyer for his own dad, for gods sake! She was probably pretty freaked out by how much of a small world it was.

Addie had to admit, she was a bit shocked to be wrapped up in a hug, but she would be lying if she said she didn't enjoy the feeling. Jacob's arms had already become familiar, and they felt very safe. At minimum, they were warm and loving, and Addie had never experienced something to gentle—not after spending the majority of her life with Carter. Still, it was instinctive for Addie to want to back away from the embrace, or to stiffen, and she quite nearly pushed to son of Nyx away. It took a lot of self control to slide her arms under Jacob's and return the hug, but she managed. It was easier to do with Jacob than anyone else. "Sure, Monkey Boy. Whatever you say." Addie whispered the taunt, biting her tongue and chuckling as she pulled away.

Adelaide had been a little caught off guard by the question, and being the socially awkward child that she was, the demigod rubbed her neck and found interest in a small bug that was crawling around her feet. "I've been better," she willingly admitted, crossing her arms and swaying a bit. "But it's not me you should be worried about." Addie couldn't stand hearing insults, and she had heard a lot of them over the course of the past week. It hurt her to feel the cruelty that could be being spat at her... friendboy. "How's life treating you?" Addie finally made eyecontact with Jacob as she creased her brow, anticipating some sort of falsely happy answer. She didn't know Jacob well, but she had come to except a few things from him. Keeping a good mood was one to those things. Still, Addie wanted a bit of honesty, and that's what she pleaded for with her knowing green eyes.

lucy belle bradford
Daughter of Aphrodite

Of all the seasons, winter was the least of Lucy's favorites. Slightly shivering from the chilly breeze caressing her rosy cheeks, she pulled the hood of her sweater up to cover her blonde head, trying in vain to shield herself from the cold. She wished she was back in the Hermes cabin, huddled up in her bunk and minding her own business, but someone kept pestering her in that place. Lucy just wanted some peace and quiet, but the kid poked his nose in and it was obvious that he wanted to hear her life story. It got on her nerves and now, being too polite to tell the boy off for his rudeness, Lucy took the initiative to leave and made up some lame excuse to get him off her back. It worked to a degree, but then she was forced to face the reality that her least liked season crept closer and in force.

Back then, old man winter signaled the start of the bad days when Lucy was left with no choice but to stay home with Owen. Most people her age would maybe rejoice at the school break but she was different. While they sat cozily in their beds drinking hot cocoa, she would lock herself in her room and hide under her blankets in fear. While her classmates enjoyed the holiday with their loving families and relatives, she would remain trapped under the care of a man that had nothing better to do but physically abuse his only daughter. In those days, Lucy felt lucky to get hit twice a day. With the cold coming in from all sides, squeezing her in a tight compact hole that only seemed to emanate darkness, Lucy never felt more alone in her life. She craved for freedom and company. She wanted Jacob.

Jacob Drew Bradford, her 'brother'. They weren't related by blood, but as children, they were pushed together as a result of hard times. She kept him safe and alive in his toddler years, showering him with the love Owen failed to give. But then, when everything had seemed alright, Owen shipped Jacob off to a boarding school. Until now, Lucy had mixed feelings regarding that. What would've happened if she mustered up enough bravery to stop Owen's decision? Could she have prevented every misfortune that the Fates seemed to throw at them after that incident? But then, a different part of Lucy told her that it was for the better, how her brother was forced to spend his life away from them. Because of that, Jacob was spared from the worst of what Owen had become. Jacob was safe somewhere else, while Lucy took the blow.

She didn't want to remember the time after that, when her life started to go downhill. Repressing a shudder that had nothing to do with the cold, Lucy clenched her hands into fists inside the pockets of her sweater and forced her eyes shut. She remembered it so clearly, how life kept throwing her lemons that she couldn't catch, and they all ended up causing her pain over and over again. Drawing a deep and ragged breath, Lucy glanced at the slightly distorted reflection of the clouds on the flowing creek, trying to distract herself. She had to get rid of these sullen thoughts somehow and suddenly, Jacob's smiling face appeared before her mind's eye. After all, what better way to combat darkness than thinking of the boy who gave her warmth, the boy who served as her light?

Lucy stopped in her tracks and tried to control her breathing. A tear rolled out of her quickly moistening eyes and she hastily wiped it off with the back of her hand. It had only been two years, but it already felt like forever since she had least seen her brother. Her chest ached at the thought. She missed him so darned much. That was all she seemed to do these days, just missing the younger boy, remembering how he used to make her smile, how he used to be so silly and adorable, how he filled that gap in her battered heart. Now, they were separated once again, but this time, it was worse. For one, Lucy wasn't even sure if Jacob made it. She wasn't even sure if he was alive.

Blinking back tears, she continued on her trek down the creekside, trying not to imagine how it would have been if Jacob was by her side a that moment. Maybe in another world, they would be tracing these steps together with a toddler happily skipping along in between them. At that thought, Lucy's hand made a small jerk, moving as if to touch her stomach. But it would be useless. There was nothing there now. Lucy lost it too. Along with Jacob, the boy who served as her lifeline. The boy she loved. The boy who looked very much like that person standing a short distance away, just letting go of a blonde girl who seemed like his girlfriend.

And that was when Lucy slowed into a complete stop a few feet from the two, her breath catching in her throat. Her eyes grew wide as a particularly strong breeze blew past her face, causing her hood to fall off. Lucy couldn't care less for the sudden cold though, because all her thoughts were directed at the very familiar boy in front of her and for the first time in ages, she had eyes for no one else but him. She had to try three times to get a single word out, and even then, her voice was as soft as a whisper from being barely used. "Jacob..?"

I'll catch you if you fall
Did you know that I loved you or were you not aware? You're the smile on my face, And I ain't going nowhere. I'm here to make you happy, I'm here to see you smile, I've been wanting to tell you this for a long while. What's gonna make you fall in love? I know you got your wall wrapped all the way around your heart. Don't have to be scared at all, But you can't fly unless you let yourself fall. I will catch you if you fall. But if you spread your wings, You can fly -----------------------
Jake’s arms quickly returned to his sides when Addie pulled herself away, letting his long fingers and hands slip into his pockets once again. The wind was picking up once more and Jacob felt the fabric of his sweats start to move slightly in the breeze. His eyes immediately rolled when she called him what she did. Original…not. At least she was trying to keep everything light-heartened, like he did, and therefore he felt much better. He didn’t think that, after everything, he would be able to have another serious conversation or be in another situation like that for a while. It would get him stressed and upset, and he didn’t like to be either of those things. He just wanted to move on and stop looking back at everything that had happened in his sick and twisted life, was that so much to ask? He didn’t think it was, so he didn’t get why he was still getting crap for it. It was a little unfair. Plus, Addie deserved to get out of all this worrying also, seeing as she had had it – in his opinion – worse than him. Why was it that other people had it so easy?

Leaning his ass back against the boulder again, Jake placed both hands on either side of him, watching the toe of his blue high-tops as he dipped it beneath a few of the pebbles. He bit his bottom lip as she directed the question back at him, immediately choosing not to answer straight. “Life is treating me just fine.” He lied, looking away and out at the water in the distance, his forehead and general expression pressing into a frown. He then let his shoulders move in a lazy shrug, the Canadian opening his mouth to make another comment a minute later. “You know me. I don’t really care about people think of me.” He didn’t know whether he was speaking the truth or not, so he left it at that. In some ways, he did care but…he still wasn’t sure. He just wanted to fit in, so he thought that maybe he did care…if only a little.

Slowly raising his hand through his pocket to his mouth as he placed another Haribo ring in his mouth, Jacob wondered how he was going to move the conversation again. He could try and awkward chuckle before letting the discussion change, but he hadn’t a clue what he was meant to change it to. The weather, or was that too cliché? The more he thought about it, the more he realised that he had never just had a normal conversation with Addie. It had always been serious and that took him back a little. He would, from this point onwards, work hard to keep everything fun between them; they both needed it. He knew for a fact that Addie didn’t really…well, socialise that much, so he would work hard to make sure that he knew that she was just like everybody else. That’s all anyone needed really, and it was no different for them.

Looking back at Addie with a grin, about to throw some sort of playful and mischievous remark at her, Jacob was immediately taken back at the sound of a familiar voice calling his name. He hadn’t noticed this person in the first place because, well, a lot of people had been passing them both within the time they had been greeting each-other. Plus, the girl looked like was wearing a hood to show that she didn’t want to been seen, just like Jake was wearing sweats. That as the main reason why had hadn’t noticed her before, along with the fact that she was pretty small anyway; a tall person would gain his attention more.

When he recognised the voice and the only person it could be from, Jake jolted and the short hairs on the back of his neck stood up. He clenched his eyes shut, his fists curling into fists in his pocket. So he knew that he was stressed and on edge, but he felt as if he was just loosing his mind now. No, he had to be imagining things. But, pinching his thigh painfully through the fabric of his sweatpants, he knew that he wasn’t dreaming or losing his sanity. Jacob opened his eyelids and turned his head to the side, taking in the appearance of the girl and her long blonde hair. He gulped, forgetting completely that Addie was standing right besides him and straightened, not sure what he was meant to do. “Lucy?” He choked out before clutching his stomach, not sure if he was going to be sick or not. No offence to her or anything, but he had been told that she was dead. He didn’t believe it, but he had been told that, so it was scary to see her in the flesh. He had been playing too many zombie games. “What? I don’t…wait…what? How?” He stuttered, not understanding for one second. “But they said you were dead!”

ooc; goodluck replying to this failure. sorry if there’s any mistake. i don’t have the patience to proof read it.

Addie smiled sadly at Jacob, trying to hide the worry that she really felt for him, but not doing a good job. She didn't exactly believe that he was okay. He had hesitated, and if she knew anything about conversation, she knew how to pick out a lie. Still, if Jacob was going to tell her he was okay, she was going to pretend to believe it. "Thank the Lord you're stronger than me, then," Addie responded jokingly, her distant expression changing into a more concerned, a more saddened one. "You amaze me, Jacob Bradford." Addie gently squeezed Jacob's cheek and chin dipped him before leaning against her own tree. Her chest hurt, like a fist was clamping down on all of her organs, and for a minute she forgot how to breathe. It felt scandalous to be with Jacob, but at the same time, it felt so natural and so right. She could never be the girl that Lucy had obviously been to the son of Nyx, but she could try to keep him happy, and keep herself happy in the process. She could try to be a second place.

Addie returned the grin halfheartedly, though the smile didn't spread to her eyes as she watched Jacob almost observantly. She barely heard a feminine voice call her friend's name, but the way Jacob reacted sent a shiver down her spine. He had shut his eyes for a moment, and he looked more alert than she had ever seen him. Whoever had said his name had been important. She figured she knew who had been talking to the boy, but she almost didn't want to admit it to herself. She didn't want to know that Lucy was back to whisk Jacob away, and leave her alone again. She had opened up. She had told Jacob quite nearly everything. (there were some things Jacob really didn't need to know, and she didn't really want to dig up from the depths of her darkest thoughts. Jacob didn't know about those things. The unthinkables. He knew about most everything else.) Addie knew it was wrong but she didn't care... at least, she didn't want to care. A smile still intruded on the Aphrodite girl's face as she watched Jacob react to Lucy, or whoever the girl actually was. He looked adorably surprised.

It kept dawning on her that there would be no other chance for her to get with Jacob, though, because here was his princess, showing up for her long lost prince, just like in the movies she used to want to live in. She was a part of the love story, only she was just the love struck puppy that had bought time for the prince to miss his lover. She wasn't the girl that got the boy in the end. She was something shy of Taylor Swift—losing a love battle before it even really began. "A kiss, Adelaide. That's all you shared. A few kisses, and some secrets. That doesn't count as love." It stung to think about, but Addie couldn't steer her mind away from the inevitable. How was she even going to mange to stick around for their reunion?

Fighting the urge to territorially grab Jacob's arm, Addie stuck her hands into the pouch of her sweatshirt. "Lucy?" Addie repeated, her voice coming out in a shocked squeak. "You were... You were right, Jacob. She is pretty." Beautiful. Stunning. Pretty was an understatement. And the girl carried with her an overwhelming aura of modesty. Addie could have made herself stand out if she wanted to, but it would have just been a deceitful magic trick. Lucy had such a kindness to her that you naturally wanted to look in her direction—latch onto her small warmth. "I've heard a lot about you from my... friend Jacob." The corners of Addie's lips turned up into a pathetic smile as she gazed in Lucy's direction. In all honesty, she couldn't really see anything. Her vision was hazy and she felt like dying on the ground so that she wouldn't have to watch Jacob forget about her. The thought was painful, but most likely accurate. After all, this was the girl he had actually loved. Addie had been a small fling, and they hadn't even talked about it since.

Who ever said they were an item, anyway? Girl, quit playing. They were just friends... Just friends...

lucy belle bradford
Daughter of Aphrodite

Lucy wanted to take the word back as soon as it left her lips. It couldn't be Jacob. Her eyes were playing tricks on her, as was expected when she thought of the boy too much. It was too bizarre. It would be too much of a coincidence if they were to meet again. That was something she had tried to accept long ago, that she would never see him again (she never did truly accept it though). America was rather big, and it seemed to be too much like a fairy tale if they both wound up in a secret place where the supernatural were proven to be reality. It would be a scene coming to life from the movies, and as far as Lucy was concerned, no sane person would ever put money in to make her life into a movie. Unless they liked twisted tragic Romeo-and-Juliet-type of fairy tales. But then the boy turned and suddenly Lucy found herself staring at him in shock. She barely heard him speak. It couldn't be...

Lucy was still at a loss for something to say when the girl beside Jacob spoke and she quickly glanced her way. The girl was so beautiful, despite the simplicity she carried herself in. Unconsciously, the sight made Lucy's heart sink. It was as if all her insecurities resurfaced in the presence of this younger girl, especially considering the short distance between her and Jacob.

Jacob. Her eyes flickered to him once again, only to feel her walls crumble. She didn't even realize that she had been holding her breath until she felt like being crushed inside a closed airless space. Despite all the closeness, all the familiarity she had with the boy, she couldn't bring herself to sprint closer and wrap her arms around him like before. It brought her a strange sense of deja vu. It bore so much resemblance to the time Jacob returned from his boarding school. She couldn't understand. Where did they stand now? How could he feel like such a stranger when her heart beat so hard for him alone?

"I..." Lucy whispered, trailing off as she realized that she didn't know what to say. Why did it seem so awkward? All those times she had been dreaming for a reunion she didn't believe would happen, and now that it was happening, she couldn't find it in herself to respond in the way she had told herself to. Had she been that broken that the only way she could live was through her dreams? Instead, she urged herself to be a little bolder. "I thought you were." Granted, it wasn't the best reunion line, but what else could she say? That she lived in the dark for two years in his absence? That her life didn't seem like it was worth living without him? It sounded so pathetic to the nineteen-year-old girl, considering that here was Jacob, all happy, healthy and even in the presence of a lovely girl. The fact that he had been strong enough to look unbroken didn't bode well with her, and Lucy couldn't help but feel worse than ever.

Shifting her attention back to the girl, Lucy fought hard to return her smile, no matter how forced it looked. She had never been a people person, and considering the slight tension in the air, Lucy didn't quite know what to reply. "Thank you," she said quietly. She let a short moment of silence pass before adding, "Not as pretty as you though." Lucy couldn't lie. It was a sincere compliment. Her words contained a ring of truth that she couldn't ignore, and she was pretty sure Jacob coudn't ignore it as well. Besides, hadn't he looked content and happy before she arrived? Who was she to ruin that for him?

Lucy shifted her weight awkwardly between the balls of her feet as she dug her clenched fists into the pockets of her sweater. She wanted to break down, she wanted to die right there, knowing that at least Jacob was safe. It was what she had hoped for all along, wasn't it? But then, where did that leave Lucy? A pathetic girl so lost in the roads of life, her heart and soul shattered and ripped from her body. Feeling her eyes moisten once more, Lucy quickly turned her face away from the two and forced her eyes closed. "I don't want to intrude," she said slowly, not looking at either of them as she willed the tears back. There would be time to break down later. Now she had to remain strong, even for just a few minutes. She could give that much.

you can’t fly unless you let yourself fall
Was it wrong that Jacob was struggling to find himself in this position, and finding it difficult to push his thought and feelings and make them into actions? He had been told, only weeks before this day, that the only girl he had ever loved had been killed by his own father. His adopted-sister had been killed by his own father. His girlfriend had been killed by his only father. Bradford, in whole was very good at trying to move on. He couldn’t normally do it successfully, but he could move on after a lot of being in denial. Just after he had brought himself to push away any doubts about his sister’s death, she was standing right in front of him, looking better than he ever thought she had before in his life. Jake could never be fairly judged that he was coming across this all wrong when all this had affected him, could he? Right now he should be trying to embrace the older girl that stood a few feet away from him. He should be telling her how happy he was to see her again and that he was never going to let anything like that happen to any of them ever again. That is what he would’ve done, if his brain hadn’t completely turned to mush, and he wasn’t sure if Addie’s presence was helping at all.

If Addie hadn’t been there, and Jacob hadn’t seen that news broadcast, things would be different. By now, he could’ve had slight tears in his eyes at the chances that she had ended up here and well. That is what would’ve happened, as he hadn’t even thought she had died in the first place. He had thought that she had got away just in time during the fight he had had with his father. He would’ve probably talked to her for a long while, asking about how she was when they parted and how she got to the haven that was Camp Half-Blood. He would’ve asked her about her Godly parent was and probably made some jokes about that, seeing as he had plenty to offer for whomever it would be. Maybe they would be able to have a fresh start at camp together, seeing as no one here knew that they were legal siblings. It would just be the lucky Nyx kid with the pretty blonde girl - that was way out of his league. But Addie was involved, and Jacob hated to admit it but he was crushing on her…hard. She was the first one he had come across at camp that he could actually and genuinely relate to. She was the only person that he had ever told any of his past to and had understood him completely, without saying that they did which was total bull seeing as their lives had been a piece of cheesecake compared to what the seventeen year old had been through.

Jake finally looked away from Lucy, swallowing the saliva that had built up in his mouth. His fingers played with the hem of his grey hoodie, a self-conscious act that would prove to everyone around him how awkward and insecure he currently felt. He felt like he was being judged by them both. Lucy probably thought that he had moved on immediately to Addie, and Addie probably thought that he was only going to go back to Lucy. He just wanted to run, and hide, and curl up in the comforting darkness of his room and go to sleep. “I’m just glad that…that you’re okay.” He finally got out, his head lifting slightly so his hazel eyes could meet her blue ones before dropping back again to his fingers. It was a distraction, at least.

Knowing that he hadn’t properly introduced them, Jake finally forced the fist smile onto his lips. It was small, but had some sense of meaning behind it. It was all he felt that he could offer up right now. “Uh, Lucy this is my friend Addie. Addie this is…well, this is Lucy.” He waved his hand in a gesture to silence himself, knowing that she knew who it was, and what she meant to him. Why was it that Jake could barely look at her though without feeling ashamed with himself? A slight blush appeared on his cheeks when Addie told Lucy part of what he had said about her, but it could be easily mistaken as the breeze that surrounded them.

For the first time ever, Jake was glad that both of the girls were…well, girls, and had decided to flirt with each-other. It gave Jacob an opportunity to compose himself, reaching into his pocket to place another piece of candy on his tongue. Sugar could help everything, right? At least, that’s what the positive seventeen year old believed anyway. It gave him an excuse not to get into drinks and drugs; candy was sweeter on the taste buds. Sometimes, Jacob wondered if he was even seventeen years-old, instead of five. He certainly had his moments with both. Rubbing the back of his neck, Jake looked at Addie upon hearing the tone of Lucy’s words, quickly giving her a one-over in a way that was trying to be discrete, but wasn’t. “Yeah, you both look…” He then turned his head to Lucy, doing the same for her. “…great.” He said finally, his voice sounding wary but honest. He had better adverbs he could use, but he didn’t think this was the time to go over exactly how amazing they looked, as he would probably be here all day.

Damn, if only the two of them could read minds. Jake was complimenting them so much right now and they couldn’t even appreciate it. Typical.

Running a hand through his spiked hair and causing it to finally loose shape and spray around in every direction, Jacob caught Lucy moving in the corner of his eyes. He looked over at her once more, knowing the look on her face. The comforting and kind part of him immediately pushed the rest of his body into movement, slowly and anxious moving across the pebbles to stand in front of her. He would do this with anyone, seeing as that was the type of boy he was, but it felt even more natural comforting Lucy. Tentatively, he wrapped both of his arms around the girl, not able to put words onto how he felt about it all. It felt strange, seeing as he had been craving her particular comfort for so long but had had to get it from others; namely, Addie. He craned his neck down to rest it against Lucy’s neck, closing his eyes. “You’re not intruding.” He whispered to her, not sure if Addie would hear, or caring. “I’m sorry. I’ve missed you.”

ooc; this is so bad. I’m so sorry. I couldn’t just leave without posting something. I’m so sorry.

Adelaide Jenner ∞ -- aphrodite

Addie ducked her head down and attempted to avoid attention. For some reason, Lucy's presence was making her uncomfortable, and she felt very out of place. She wasn't supposed to be standing there while Jacob and Lucy fell back in love and moved on and forgot about other people. They wouldn't need to remember other people. They would have each other. Addie blinked at the ground before gawking at Jacob as he indirectly told her she looked great. It was a two sided complement, but she was still getting used to being noticed in the first place. She had even missed being introduced to Lucy. She had been caught up in her thoughts.

What was going to happen to the small relationship she had developed with the son of Nyx? This pretty much crushed any chance that they would end up together. Lucy and Jacob were endgame. They had the history, they had the connection, and Addie had the intolerance for too much touching and too much kissing. It wasn't hard to see who won that game. It surprised the daughter of Aphrodite, but it kind of hurt to think about losing the boy. It was selfish, and she was trying not to be selfish, but Adelaide wanted to be with Jacob. She didn't deserve him, Lucy deserved him, but man Addie wanted him...

Addie looked up and sighed to herself as Jacob hugged Lucy. She pressed her back against the tree once again and shut her eyes. Was this what her dad had felt like when Aphrodite left him? When he lost his job? She wasn't going to try to relate to the monster, but pain suddenly felt like fuel, and if Addie hadn't been as street smart, she might have done something dangerous with the pain. Her heart thudded in her chest and she opened her eyes to the sound of Jacob whispering. She couldn't make out what he was saying, but she assumed it was probably lovey-dovey and private. "This is why you don't tell people things," Addie mumbled to herself. "That boy will walk away. And he will walk away with your story." Addie wrapped her arms around her waist and shivered. This didn't feel right. Being alone... Didn't feel right.

but at night you'll live it all again
