David Wells

David, wiped a bit of sweat off of his forehead with the back of his hand as he finished covering the last bit of dirt onto a fallen comrade. He closed his eyes in a moment of silence as the other demigods around him did the same. Once the moment was over, the campers parted, going back to the battle that was raging on around camp. David stayed behind. He had a special respect for the dead. He stood there a while longer in silence before raising a palm. He focused his energy, and the obsidian gravestone began to carve words into itself. David quoted the fallen Hermes camper at the end, and let a sad smile play as he remembered the guy speaking those words to him. He laid down the shovel carefully and nodded at the grave, turning his back to it. The battle raging in front of him at camp made him worry, but everyone kept telling him not to fight, to stay back and care for the dead when necessary. They said it would be an easy job but it was really taking it's toll on David and depression was hitting him hard. He sighed, looking up at the sky, squinting at the clouds. A small dot contrasted with the clouds, and he assumed it was a plane until the dot increased in size. It was getting nearer. Shaken, David removed his two daggers from their holsters, holding them at the ready. The small sound of beating wings soon came within earshot, and he narrowed down the list of possible things, and he relaxed a little thinking it was a pegasus. Wrong again. David staggered backward and tripped over himself, landing hard on the ground. The harpy raised it's talons and slammed into David, ripping his shirt and chest in one bloody sweep. It wasn't too deep, as David was able to shake it off. The harpy was a very hideous looking creature, cackling as David attempted to rise to his feet. As soon as he gained balance, the harpy spread it's wings and shot into the air. He swung his blade, hopelessly knocking off a couple digits of the harpy's. Now more furious than ever, howling with rage the beast turned in the air and swooped at David. David's eyes were wide in fear, and excruciating pain in his neck came into sense as everything was covered in redness. David fell to his knees, unable to breath, unable to feel, unable to think. Then, he began to slip away, and everything blackened. Everything became quiet. And then, there was nothing.
