Skye had been at the bottom of the sound, holding her breath. She had been doing it for an hour and twenty eight minutes, and in that time, quite a few fish had stared at her. Sand had accumulated around the air bubble she was sitting in, cross legged. It seemed the only way she could get some peace and quiet these days was to do this. She meditated, but kept concentration on the bubble. Keeping the water away. So, in a way, her meditation was focusing on the constant flow of water around her.
Before she knew it, she sensed someone in the water. Her eyes shot open and she turned around towards the shore. Skye almost lost concentration as she saw it was Jared. The beach was barren, though. Strange for that time of day. Maybe there was something she was supposed to be doing? Ah, never mind that.
Skye swam to the top of the sound, and made her way towards Jared on the shore. She realized they hadn't really gone to the beach together, except for when they first met and that day with Rachel... Yeah, she didn't really want to think about that.
"Hey Jared!" she called out. Skye was dry, of course, which was a phenomenon she had barely understood. She just knew it worked.
Jared was someone who came into Skye's life about a year ago. He made what was once a very crappy life into one that got better and worse and the same time. His presence in her life made things more... differentiating. Before, it was just crappy. Now, we had good and bad! It was a roller coaster of experiences, and now, she figured things were pretty good.
But, in order for things to become good, Skye had to get injured at the Manticore attacks a couple months ago. They met by chance at the infirmary. She thought maybe she should start looking into those near death experiences and see how that worked.
