Big Surprise (Balisugar)

Kate looked around as she walked. She was looking for her fiancé Connor. He had told her to meet him here. Apparently he had a 'surprise' for her. Naturally Kate wanted to know what it was. She couldn't stand waiting. Within a few minutes Kate had spotted Connor. She hurried over to him. As she was moving towards him her engagement ring flashed slightly in the sun. She always wore it, except for when she was training. Kate was terrified that she would lose it while fighting someone. That would be her worst nightmare. Finally Kate reached Connor. She planted a kiss upon him. "Hi sweetie!" she exclaimed. Kate was itching to ask about her surprise. But that would make her sound impatient and maybe even whiny. No, Kate would just have to wait.

"It sounds great!" Kate said enthusiastically. Something was nagging at her, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. It was something Connor had said. "Don't you mean taste testing, not test tasting?" she asked, finally realizing what was wrong. Kate had always though it was taste testing, not test tasting. But maybe she was wrong. That could be possible.

"It's okay." Kate said with a slight shrug. She was actually a bit glad Cinnor had made the mistake. Usually Athen kids were really smart and never made any mistakes when it came to brains. It was a bit freaky. So it was good to know Connor wasn't like that. Kate looked around, wondering if were going to leave soon. "So are we going to get going?" she asked Connor hopefully.

Kate nodded. "I started and finished packing." she told Connor. "I haven't been at camp long." she added, to explain how she was done so quickly. Kate gazed around the taste testing place. It was quite pretty actually. There were outside tables on perfectly green grass. Luckily there were umbrellas on the table. Otherwise Kate would get burned to a crisp.

Kate smiled as the chef put down the first meal. It was a salad. Kate wasn't the biggest fan of salads. They were okay, but they definitely aren't the best of foods in her opinion. This one was one of the better salads she had tasted in her lifetime. Luckily the serving was only small. Kate tended to not eat much. She frowned as she listened to Connor's question. "Who's the salad?" she asked, completely confused.

"Ohhhh." Kate said in realisation. That made much more sense. "The salad's good." she said, nodding. "How do you like it?" There was really no point in having the salad if only one of them liked it. Kate wanted to make sure that Connor enjoyed it too. This was a joint thing after all. You couldn't have one person making all the decisions. It just didn't work like that.

Kate tipped her head to one side as she looked at the little sandwiches. There was a whole hoard of them. Kate smiled. A hoard of mini sandwiches. She picked one up and took a bite. It was actually really delicious, for a mini sandwich. "I like this one." she announced. "But I don't know what's in it." she added with a small smile.

Kate waited patiently as the waiter went to get the chef. It was a bit strange that he didn't know what was in the sandwich. It looked fairly simple to Kate. Then again, she didn't know what was in the sandwich so she couldn't talk. Kate flipped her hair over her shoulder to stop it getting in the way. She gazed around and noticed the waiter and the chef coming back. "They're coming." she told Connor.

Kate lifted her eyebrows in surprise. The sandwich looked so much fancier than cheese, ham and mustard. "Okay then." she said, smiling slightly. "So do you want these at the wedding or something fancier?" she asked. "Or maybe we could just not say what was in them so people think they're fancy." she suggested. That would be funny.

"Which one is the second one again?" Kate asked. She had only tried one sandwich so she didn't really know what Connor was talking about. "And yeah, I am having a good time." she added. Kate glanced down at the array of sandwiches again. They were arranged in quite a pretty way.

"Oh, right." Kate said, smiling slightly. Her eyes widened as she saw all the types of cakes. There were so many! Kate brushed her hair aside thoughtfully as she surveyed the cake flavours. Finally she made a choice. "I'm gonna go for red velvet." Kate said, reaching for one of the red velvet slices. She took a tentative bite and a wide smile spread across her face.

"I love red velvet!" Kate said enthusiastically once her mouth was empty. She had always loved red velvet. Whether it was in cupcake form or regular cake form it was Kate's favorite flavor. She honestly didn't get why so many people liked chocolate. Obviously Kate liked chocolate, but it wasn't her favorite. "What's your favorite flavour?"
